How come my avatar always goes really small, where as other people's are rather large  |

Ah well the maxiumum is 100 px by 100 px.. so if your avvy is 100 and it's coming out smaller underneath where you have pasted the URL there is a thing that says "width:" and a field.. in the field put 100 and there is probably a height one too.. then the picture should be max  |

i loaded an avatar and it is not appearing...tried to make sure it was a small file???help...

try cropping it to a square with your computer's picture editing software, cos it looks like it was probably a rectangle and got squished into the 100x100 limit.
