Aw, thanks Comatose! Maybe sticky a "Rules For Sigs" post somewhere? Then if people don't abide by the rules - or don't edit their sigs when you ask - you won't feel bad about going in there and doing it for them!  |

I don't think rules for sigs post will do much good, but I suppose if you put it out there and then edit them if people don't stick to the rules, it could work. I just think people will get upset.
As for the photos threads. I've often thought about going in there and deleting all the chatter that doesn't relate to the photos. It would be a huge job to do all of the threads, especially Matthew because there are PAGES of people talking shit, but if other people are happy for me to start deleting chit chat, I'm happy to start on it.
It just means people might get upset when 1000 pages goes down to 300. Let me know what you think.

Those are threads for Pictures, They are not "Let's talk shit about so and so" Threads.
Just looking at the band section sends my head in circles...Its hard to keep up and trust me, I do try and keep up!

Sorry to be harsh, but it is really annoying. I know that is why some people don't come on here anymore. And the damn giant signatures can go too!!!!!!!!!! Ugh I'm bitchy today.

I have had people say that to me too! I guess now the photo request thread is up and running it'll be easier for people to not have to trail through literally 100's of pages but it's still a bit mental.
I think the chit chat should be kept to each member's other thread?

If you post up a "Rules For Sigs" thread with advice on how to re-size sigs or who to ask for help, then if people still don't stick by the rules they can't exactly get upset about a mod editing their sig. The photo thread is trickier...and such a huge job for you mods to have to go in there and tidy them up! Like everyone said, it's crap that people keep posting unrelated chit-chat in the photo threads when there are specific threads for that devoted to each band member. I never go into the Matt photo thread any more cos I couldn't be arsed wading through pages of crap to get to a photo. Maybe post a warning in each photo thread first? Something calm and measured like "IF YOU GUYS DON'T STOP TALKING SHIT I'MA GET MEDIEVAL ON YOUR ASSES!!! |

Well it's all sounding good to me! I'm not saying I've never posted crap in a photo thread, but I can't scrape up the energy to go near them these days, it's been ridiculous. That sure would be a lot of extra work for you mods though, and there's bound to be be some flak.
If you decide to do this with the signatures and photo threads you can count on my support.
(Oooooh I'm starting to wish I had a delete button...haha!)

To make sigs smaller you just have to upload them to a smaller size when you're uploading them. Unless you get your sigs some other way of course  |

I usually do it the long-arse way and save the picture then re-upload it to the size i want it on imageshack |

Yeah, if you're just right-clicking and copying the url of the pic, the pic may be too big for a sig. You're better off saving it and then re-uploading it to Photobucket or tinypic or something, and keeping all your sig pics a specific size (I dunno what that size should be, that's up to the mods!)

I have to offer my two cents here,although i'm clearly in the minority,but maybe it will mean something to somebody. I am a regular in the Matt threads,and for the last 4 months the Matt pic thread went from about 300 pages to 1800. We were proud of that and it made all of us feel good knowing that,because we felt like we were a tight knit group of FRIENDS who had things in common to talk about other than Matt. But yes eventually we did realize that it was harder for people to find certain pics,so thats why we moved our chit chat to the Mattman fan club thread. When i heard the moderators might delete all those posts we did (and worked so hard to achieve),it saddened me. In those posts there are hours and hours of some of the best times i've ever had on the internet. I know my reasons are purely sentimental,which doesn't mean crap i'm sure,but a few of us will be saddened to see all our good times erased forever. I am actually going to go through and print out the pages I want to save,but it will take a long time. I guess what i'm asking is that you take your time so those of us who want to save those posts can do so. OR how about this; move them to a new thread called Matt Fans Chit Chat or something so that theyre at least not lost forever. Also something i want to add: Even if a thread is only 300 or 400 pages long,even that is still way too much to go through when looking for a specific picture. I think the best solution is to create multiple organized threads where the pictures can be posted according to when they were taken,so that if youre looking for an old picture,you can go to a thread called for example,"Matt pics-early years", and you'll probably find it way quicker than if they were just scattered around in no order. Sorry this is so long,i just felt very strongly about this so i had to say something! |
