It's mainly about giving it to people who do nice things, like post Kings of Leon videos/audios for people who request it, for people who make avatars/wallpapers, people who say really witty or funny things, people who treat others with kindness, ect... and as a thank you they give karma. If someone is mean to another induvidual, like for example they tell them to go fuck off or something, then they can be smited. It just promotes everyone to be good to one another and share the KOL love.
