This is a thread where you can tell stories about how KOL's music has helped you, whether it be sad, happy, exciting, depressing or joyful story tell it here.
For me, the song California Waiting convinced me to stop studying in Los Angeles. I'm from the UK and went there for a year, after that year I was flying back to start my second year, on the plane i listened to 'California Waiting'...there was one line that stuck out in my head and that was '..am i losing way to much?'. Then for 2 months after of being into my 2nd year of uni in Los Angeles I laid on my sofa and put 'California Waiting' on again. I listened to it on repeat for around 2 hours, I knew that i was meant to be in England. So I packed my bags and within 5 days I was back home.
Thank you Kings of Leon!

That's really cool, Jamie. Did you really not like Los Angeles? Good on ya for making the decision.
I know I have stories, I'll think of some to write here soon.

No, i didnt like it at all, but i stuck it out for as long as i could. When I was on the way back on the plane i couldnt stop listening to four kicks. Me and my closest 3 mates always dance to that song in Fez (a rock club thingy) in my home town, I couldn't stop smiling.
What stories do you have?

A whole year, you lasted ages by my standards. I went to study in London and only lasted 6 months, I missed home so much. Glad it all worked out for you in the end. Hmm. The main thing that comes to mind when I think of the Kings is my brother. We are close friends and I miss him since he moved away. We share a big love of the Kings, he introduced me to them back in 2004. So when I listen to them I get excited for him coming home and look forward to us going out partying and dancing like spazzes to KoL! Also, I suffer from depression and use the Kings music to bring me 'out of the dark' sometimes - it's nice and it always helps.

My first experience with KOL was at Bonnaroo last year and I went with my best friend Chelly. We both kinda went on a whim. We had very little money and we didn't know how this whole festival thing worked but we knew we were excited to see a lot of bands especially KOL. The other great experience that came out of it was knowing it'd be in magazine.
So everytime I listen to KOL I think of my closest friend who, in essence, is my ride-or-die chick lol. It's hard to find people who want to do something spontaneous. Everyone I know is locked up somewhere in a classroom or a cubicle and when they have time off, they don't give themselves a chance to cool off and enjoy life. KOL makes me grateful for all the cool things that are possible in life. They make me not afraid to go out and taste the world, despite the fact that there's a chance I could go broke or get my heartbroken.
Ragoo makes me feel the best though. I tear up everytime at the end where they chant, "We've been running barefoot thru the spring" and rise up to take on another day. I listen to it every morning!

The song true love way, didn't help me, but related to my girlfriends problems: "It's a dark past, and it hurts me so"
Even though i think it says path, not past.

I reckon San Fran is a lot better than LA, amycakes. It's a more bohemian city with a studenty vibe, not like LA. Plus, an MA is only one year, not 3 or 4 so it will go so fast you won't want to leave.
Make sure you check out the City Lights bookstore in San Fran, it is unbelieveable!

They used to help me when I would get in a traffic jam. I would just think to myself, this ain't so bad, I get to listen to KOL. Then my cd player ate BOTT and now all I have is sucky sports talk radio on the way home. Blech.

i've never really had anything personal about the kings or anything up until the past 6 months or so. i've been a fan for years, but you know. i just liked the music. but when i started college a while ago, there was this boy in my art class (i quit that after a week and so i never got to know him) but from the first time i saw him i realised he looked like matthew - in my opinion, anyway. although a lot of other's see it, too - and i knew a guy that sits on the table with him in the social area. so one day i plucked up the courage to go sit with him and meet this boy properly. we didn't get on at first, in fact we hated each other. for the next 2 months i was convinced he was an absolute wanker. but i gradually became friends with his friends, and on my birthday he complimented my mighty boosh card my friend gave me, and then wished me happy birthday. i was shocked. we then sort of started talking and i sat on that table more and more. we became friends and now he is probably the best thing to ever happen to me. in fact, i spend any time i possibly can sat with him, texting him or talking to him online. we've both been having an awful time lately and we have both been helping each other through it. he is the only person that has showed any signs of caring. he is the sweetest, cutest, cuddliest, funniest boy ever and i love him to pieces. if he wasn't there for me, and i didn't listen to the kings' music (as i have been listening to it more during this time) i don't know what i would have done. so i suppose the kings' music has helped me, and they also helped me meet the most amazing person ever.

I have a lot of Kol related stories, really.
There's the time I had to run 5 km as a test in school and I absolutely hate running. But I just listened to the Kings on my mp3 player and started running. It went soo relaxed, the wind in my hair, wonderful music in my ears, a bit of sweat here and there, haha. I passed the test easily and got an 8!!
And whenever I think of the summer holidays, I think of Pukkelpop and Rock Werchter. And whenever I think about those festivals, I think of Kings of Leon. Their Pukkelpop gig was the best. I stood front row, the sun was shining like crazy, I got injured by crowd surfers, Jared laughed at me for being smashed by one, I got amazing pictures, they played a beautiful version of Knocked Up, ... The whole day itself was amazing, but that was the icing on the cake. Classic times!

Yeah, it was an amazing gig.. Wasn't it the last day? It was just a beautiufl ending.. I didn't slept for three days, I was tired, I had viseted the EHBO section several times caus of my back, but than the KOL came and I was happy.. I was really happy.. Just be there, with yur friends, seeing Matthew (on a long distence), but it make feel happy

hmm, i'm planning to start my MA in san francisco next year. you're not filling me with confidence. San Francisco and LA are two totally different cities, so don't worry Amy - I think you'll love it! I think San Francisco is one of the prettiest cities in the world. I've been there 2 or 3 times now and wouldn't hesitate going back. Los Angeles......not so much. (no offense to anyone living in LA!)

Also, I suffer from depression and use the Kings music to bring me 'out of the dark' sometimes - it's nice and it always helps. Same here Helen, KOL mean so much to me because listening to their music is one thing that I know will surely make me feel better again, even if it's just a tiny bit! Also, this is gonna sound silly but this forum is actually a god send for me. Coming on here and discussing my interests, feelings the Kings! Really takes my mind off the bad things in life, and I honestly don't know what I'd do without it [edit] And did you just feel homesick Chandy? Or did you just hate London!

well when my Grandad died a couple of weeks ago the first song i heard after i found out was the bucket and one line stuck out for me "you kick the bucket and i'll swing my legs" just got to me coz its about death...so i know it doesn't really have any resemblance to my Granddad's situation but it reminds me of him and how much i miss him on a brighter note songs like Spiral Staircase, Red Mourning Light and other upbeat songs just make me smile and whenever I'm in a bad mood or just need to relax i put on some KOL and i feel much much better!
