i no! where do u even start with that sort of thing?
but yeah like someone said, half the time ur exasperated explaining who the kings are and how great they are and then the other half of the time ur grinding ur teeth quietly while That Girl Who Listens To Cascada starts boasting bout them
i think the best situation is where u have a few good friends to share it all with properly, who'll be just as excited as u r wen u tell them rumours like the next single etc

Yeh for sure. I have one friend who's into them like I am. Many a happy moment spent talking about KOL nonsense!
I don't think that someone else liking a band should make you like them any less, especially KOL, thats crazy talk.

I see what you guys are saying, but i love it the way it is for me. I love the Kings, one of my mates loves another band, and another etc. We all have our favourite bands, it wasn't planned though! It just happened...And i love it that way. So if another of my mate started liking them loads, i would hate it!

It is nice having friends who like different bands because then they can always introduce you to new music, but I have to say that treating my sister to KOL in San Diego was genius because she instantly became a hardcore obsessive fan like me. Suddenly she wanted to know everything about the band and hear every song of theirs. She's my partner in KOL crime. The world is a better place for us now that we can sing about erectile dysfunction at the top of our lungs, knowing that everyone else is crazy for not joining in.

I do not see this the same way as most people here. Yes, they were once relatively unknown Yes, they are good and little secrets are always fun
However, how can an expanding fanbase be a bad thing.
More people listening to good music other then rubbish can only benefit society lol.
They are a great band and it is inevitable that the fan base will grow to that, that they deserve.

Yep, i agree, just like most people on here will. Of course it's a good thing for the band that people are loving their music now. But alitahearts said something the other day that made me understand why I'm dreading them getting as big as say, the Arctic Monkeys... its just not as fun to listen to music that everyone listens to It's really nice to have a favourite band that not everyone knows about, you feel a little bit more unique. Well at least i do

I totally get what your saying here, I would have love to be one of the younger era fans where they got to hang out with them and that! They do deserve all the fame that they are recieving now and much more, but I love the small intimate gigs that they are playing now. I saw Incubus at the Birmingham NEC this year and it just didn't feel the same (totally diff band I know, KOL are soooo much better) The B'ham Academy and B'ham NIA felt right, snug!! Snug and KOL, goes quite well. How ever large they become though, I will stil be a fan.

hmm i have a few views on this subject,iv been a fan for a few years and came across the kings on my own.before i heard aha shake heartbreak i knew nothing of this band, but one listen and i was hooked.i did show a lot of friends and family what id discoverd and they dubbed me 'strange'.i didnt care i was in love with my new found joy,id never heard anything so unique.anyway a few years down the line after showing numerous people they were having none of it.until they had me drum it into them and play there music constantly in there presence there like"yeah there cool"and im like "kol are MY THING!!" as with the fame,i think the guys deserve the recognition they have begun to get, after all they have worked for it and at least people are starting to see them for the amazingly tallanted men that they are,and seeing what we saw in them a long time ago.i love the band and hope they reach whatever level of fame they always knew they would LONG LIVE THE KINGS.XX

oh i hate when i hear people saying "do you know this one song?? something with....i'm on call...and then the singer is screaming something...this song is sooooo coooool!" especially when those people usually don't listen to bands like kings of leon.. i'm always like "...mh...i know them..." but i guess "our" band wanted to reach those people. i have an issue of a german magazine called piranha and theres an interview with caleb and jared and the both say things like "we made on call our first single cause we wanted to reach as many people as possible...we want a bigger fanbase..." and jared says something like "since when is it not cool to have success with your band? ...we're no freaks like arcade fire who don't want too many people to listen to their music..." so i guess the guys got what the wanted

I've been a fan since november 2003 when I saw them open for The Strokes. I was out getting a beer and ran back inside when they started to play California Waiting. I fell in love instantly! I have taken about 10 friends to see them and all of them left with a smile on their face, telling me it was the best concert they have been to in a long time, which made me even more happy. I've been to 5 KOL concerts and they have never disappointed me! Usually, when I go see a band on numerous ocassions, they tend to play more of their newest stuff for marketing purposes. Not KOL! They played a perfect amount from all their albums. My favorite being Youth and Young Manhood (I am stubborn when it comes to accepting a newer album being better, but I will admit that their style gets better with age!) I never really knew how big they got since I don't watch much tv and I definitely don't listen to crappy radio (unless its classic rock).. but I heard a KOL song during a stupid law and criminal (it was while back so I don't remember which song) tv show's opening credit and then the other day during a ford focus commercial. I was blown away. Could my all time favorite band be getting this big!!? I am very happy for them and I will probably never miss a show when they come to the DFW area of Texas, no matter the price! From a tiny venue no longer open, they progressively grew to a large venue like House of Blues and never once lost appreciation of their fans. I am glad to have found this forum! -keep that smile on your pretty face!

^^^ Dom, did u read my story?? i mean i bloody lost my shoes in the pit!! worst bit about it is, the fact that i heard the males behind talkng about how they were planning to kill everyone by being so rough! ur right// the first KOl show taught me that the new fans are these teenyboppers (i know im 16) who got front row just so they could stare at jared... and the other girls seemed to think it was some sorta fashion parade... whilst the douchebags just wanted to get violent which of course lost me my spot!! point is, i wouldve preferred if it was full of 25+ year olds, who went to the show to chill whilst drinking beer and didnt enjoy themselves by being so careless all im saying is, a lotta the new fans are mean!!! and perhaps only like BOTT ..

Does anyone feel now that they have made it to pretty much super stardom that the band that was once pretty much your little secret is now everyones I've been a fan since early YAYM and used to enjoy telling people about them, their storey and introducing people to their music. Now it seems everyone has got them as their favourite music over myspace and face book and they have become just another band Just me being pathetic? I agreee. it sucks, but what else can we expect from the KOL with their success? - that reminds me that, there WAS time when the "label" "indie" meant that not many people knew about the band, or sometimes movie. and it was always so cool because, only you out of your friends knew them, well that was the case. and it was a small inclosed kind of label. but now, "indie" is hitting in the mainstream road, and slowly becoming a mainstream label. which sucks, because it will no longer be known as the label that was small and unnoticed by everyone, only noticed by the people with good style and taste aaahhh what is this world coming to

It's really nice to have a favourite band that not everyone knows about, you feel a little bit more unique. Well at least i do i live in france, and everytime someone asks me about my favorite band, they're like "Kings Of Leon? uh how do you spell it? ...i may have heard one of their songs..." and i just want to shout out loud that KOL is the best band EVER and that those ignorant frenchies are loosers! (but yeah, i still feel kind of unique to love a band that not everyone kows about )
