Must admit I'm a bit suprised at the quality of music on this list, given the shit that sells in America. I would have liked to see Because of the Times a bit hire, but happy that they're finally getting respect over here. www.rollingstone.com/rockdaily/index.php/2007/12/10/rock-list-readers-top-25-albums-of-2007/ What should the happyalone top albums of '07 be? 1. Because of the Times 2. Icky Thump 3. Baby 81 4. Our Love to Admire 5. Neon Bible 6. Favourite Worst Nightmare 7. Easy Tiger 8. Rainbows 9. Sky Blue Sky 10. Sound of Silver My personal Top 10

To be honest this Rolling Stone list turned me happy because it is not a list provided by the Rolling Stone team but the Rolling Stone readers and just the fact BOTT is ahead Favorite Wors Nightmare that's great haha I hope in the Rolling Stone list official (the one the magazine will have) Kings get some position closer to that.

To be fair to the Arctic Monkeys...Rolling Stone is an American publication, and they are fairly underground here in the US, especially in comparison to KOL. Anyway...I do think that list is pretty correct. I personally would move Modest Mouse up a few spots, and Queens of the Stone Age down a few (love them, but Era Vulgaris was not their best effort). I wholeheartedly agree with their 1 and 2 selection. I'd bet that Rolling Stone's own list looks very similar to this one...minus The Shins and Nine Inch Nails in the top ten.

I guess the magazine will keep NIN near that position and I hope an official list similar to that. But I didn't know the fact [editing: I miswrote] Arctic Monkeys is kinda underground in the USA. Here they are HUGE... They get positions between Rihanna actually! Yesterday the local radio played AM between Rihanna and Sean Kingston. And Kings, pfff... I never heard Kings in nowhere in Brazil.

Yeah...Arctic Monkeys got a lot of publicity here in America when their first album came out and they were getting all kinds of hype as being massive in the UK and everything...but all the excitement died down fast because Americans have short attention spans and bad taste in music...and our radio system is broken thanks to Clear Channel and over-conglomerated record companies...so the Arctic Monkeys really never had a chance. KOL have a little bit better shot seeing as they are American, and their music is more marketable to the "modern rock" radio format, where as Arctic Monkeys have too much dance/electro infused to be played on a US rock station, yet too much rock to be played on the Top 40.
Sorry to get off on a tangent...I study radio trends, so I analyze this too much. Back to the Rolling Stone list...this year was really the year of amazing bands releasing mediocre records and getting credit simply because of their past successes (Bright Eyes, Wilco, Spoon, Ryan Adams, etc, etc)

Was looking at that yesterday. Goog good! Well except the fact that Arctic Monkeys are up so high, i mean what the hell?! Was glad to see Neon Bible, Myths of the Near Future and Bruce's Magic up there. My brother was very annoyed that The National- Boxer were nowhere to be seen and i have to agree.

I think you're looking at a different list dear...Klaxons aren't on this one, and The National is at #16.

What you meant for AM happens. The music they did seems suitable here and two months ago they performed here. Brazilian people as far as they see Kings doing something people can call "country" they don't wanna listen and see. But there is the CSS thing and everyone between CSS is getting space here. Kasabian performed here last month, CSS with Devo and those stuff. If you go party here, even in normal places you can hear AM and Incubus lately!

i've discovered reading any sort of professionally written album reviews does nothing but cause me anger that would be so much better used on something more productive, like playing the drums.
i refuse to even glance at articles like that anymore. i stick to the interviews and the news, thank you very much.

I don't usually take what journalists have to say very seriously...but it's nice to get some perspective on what I'm hearing...that being said Pitchfork is the devil.
