So I'm having another one of my weird dreams & Dolly Parton is singing "Knocked Up" in a very country version. Well she's singing the second part of the song, "Always mad and usually drunk..." So I realized that no one's singing the "takin' all I have to take..." part because I want a country western male singing that part. Now I know y'all say, "No one does it better than Caleb" but let's get a little creative. Because I was imagining it very Grand Ole Opry style back in the day with Dolly in a sequin-y dress, big hair and a country western guy with a big cowboy hat. It's such a beautiful song and I thought, "How extra cute if this was an old school country ballad." So if you're into country music or if you have a favorite classic male country singer, who'd you put in that duet? Hank Williams if he was still alive? p.s. What would it take to put Caleb & Dolly together at Grand Ole Opry? We, as a board, should totally do something about it! Dolly and Caleb together at last!

Yeah, I almost shit myself when I saw the title of this thread. I'm sure you were just as upset when you realized it was just a dream. Actually, it was probably worse for you because you got to see it and hear it ... lucky ... or not, 'cause then you had to wake up to this modern age, when Dolly Parton would be laughed off the stage. Then again, Amy Winehouse hasn't been ... yet. I pick Johnny Cash. No wait, Waylon Jennings. I dunno. Both. Can I have both?

Do you like Johnny Cash because now he's been played by the hunky Joaquin Phoenix and all Hollywood-ed? Or do you genuinely enjoy the tunes? Because if so you really might enjoy some older country, and maybe some older folk ... I could recommend some stuff. Modern country makes me want to slice my own ears off, though.

Her hair sticks out as far at the back as her boobs do at the front. Weight distribution perhaps? I have nothing valuable to offer on this subject either, by the way.

You think? It's one of those 'chicken and the egg' scenarios innit? Which came first - the big hair or the big boobs? Did she have a breast enlargement done just to counteract the sheer size of her barnet......
Like all of life's most fascinating mysteries, I guess we'll just never know.........
........or care.

I say Dolly and Caleb open at the OPRY for Loretta Lynn and Jack White. I'd probably check into the ticket price for that show......maybe...

no i liked johnny cash before the movie. but i can't get into anything else. i've tried. That's unfortunate. What about old blues? Or is it just old music in general you're not fond of?

The Soggy Bottom Boys' version of I Am a Man of Constant Sorrow is beauteous. And Norman Blake's You Are My Sunshine makes me want to cry ... my Aunt Diane would sit me on her lap and we'd sing it together, and she had this snowglobe with a yellow rose in it that played the song and I'd just lay on my tummy on the floor and sing along, staring at that ceramic rose. As far as the blues go, Blind Willie McTell is so wonderful he pains me. I feel him in my bones, my bones I tell you! And Son House, holy moley! White Stripes fans should recognize this song: youtube.com/watch?v=8jN5vqEyV7g
