So I was listening to some Led Zeppelin and when Four Sticks came on I couldn't help be be reminded of Four Kicks. Not only are the names similar but so are the underlying beats. Anyone else notice this? Think its more than a coincidence? Are the Kings paying homage to one of the greats? Any thoughts

Yeah that opening riff is very close. I'm sure that along with the catalogue of 60's and 70's rock that influenced their playing Led Zeppelin was one of them.
The similarity between the titles is striking. Personally, I don't think it was "paying homage" to Zeppelin, but more like drawing inspiration from them.
That's what I think, anyway. Who can really say?

Everytime I think of Led Zeppelin IV I think of Fast Times...and then I smile, and put on Kashmir instead.

I can hear Zeppelin influences in their more acoustic tracks...but if it's there it's definitely a deep concealed one...You've got to peel back the layers of southern rock, punk and garage rock first.

yeah...nathan did say in that spin interview from 2005 that they smoked a lot of pot and discovered the led zeppelin boxed set and just sat and listened to it for like 3 days and got their minds blown...
led zeppelin for the win!!

Four Kicks always reminds me of early White Stripes songs like Astro and Cannon, both off their first album...

I've always put Led Zeplin and Kings of leon together not sure why think it's cause the person that got me into the Kings was obsessed with Zeplin - Memories eh. Ofcourse it could be because their both in the top 10 ever.

Are you serios? Four Kicks sounds the same but heavier. And of course it's not going to sound exactly the same, but they are both very alike.

i think kol have seriously influences from led zeppelin, well at least in their 2 first albums. Spiral staircase for example, my brother that likes l zeppelin and its not so much into kol says that it similar to zeppelin. wasted time and molly chambers too.

Yes the songs are completely different but the chords and style are SIMILAR. No one is saying Kings ripped off Zeppelin but both songs are similar in the guitar riffs.
And I don't get the comment relating bands and songs to each other as a bad thing... ALL music is related to each other and with Kings of Leon you can tell they were influenced by Zeppelin. Big deal, it's not a bad thing and it's not putting down Kings in anyway, if anything its a compliment.
