Does anyone else think that this is like, the album's main song? Kinda Like Taper Jean Girl kinda was for ASH. I mean, It captures the album's theme perfectly, and the lyrics kinda match the theme as well. It's kinda hard to describe, but I think it's kinda, like, the MAIN song.

i think mcfearless is more like the main song. It's the first song where their aesthetics change almost completely and follow the "because of the times" theme, in that either it will work well or bad, because of the times. "the runner" to me sounds like it could have been on ASH, Mcfearless is the standout track of the album.

I considered that as well, but McFearless is (I think, atleast through my interpretation) about their family.
The Runner's lyrics are closer to the theme.

i believe mcfearless to be about their ego
"its my show"

The Runner is the one song I'm sometimes inclined to skip.

I can't get into the runner at all! It's like day old blues on A.S.H, the one I never listen to. I recon fans and trunk, the songs which come before and after the runner blow it out of the water.

i also think its like day old blues, but in a way that they are both brilliant and i think both songs show real character and emotion

Jesus this and jesus that! in my opinion it doesn't have much to do with religion that he talks about Jesus in this song. it seems more like a metaphor for saying he realizes he's not such a bad guy in spite of his mistakes. but if you immediately want to reject everything that has to do with Jesus or God to make a "statement", be my guest, but you'll miss out on a lot of good stuff that way.

The album is so good I'm completely addicted to it and listen to it all the time - but occasionally I skip the Runner.

Just how good is this song? What I love about this band and all of the albums is that my favourite song constantly changes. I wish they would play some of the more slower paced stuff live though. But yeah, I adore this song, the sentiment, the very end, the lyrics. All of it. Gorgeous.
