What is wrong with you people? Not only did you all post links to the kings new record months before it came out, but now you can't wait 1 week to hear the b-sides? 1 WEEK. What makes any of you think that you're important enough to listen to unreleased tracks? Because you sit on a board looking at pictures from concerts and read gossip about them all day? Does that really make you a true fan? That's so shitty. You talk about being real fans and spend your days on this website devoted to them and their music but most of you bad mouth their every move and rip apart what they say in interviews, the way they dress, wear their hair, who they date etc. Why is there even a thread on here with the name "new album is disappointing"? I would love to see any one of you write music that every magazine in the world has never given a bad review to. I've checked on huge music websites, and people who are actually in the music industry and know what they are talking about are blown away by this band and the new record ... and they've only been given a few songs because fortunately for them they don't sit at the computer all day trying to find leaks like you all. If you loved their music so much why don't you want to help them? Most of you say you'll buy the record. For some it's probably true, but not everyone that has heard it is going to get up and get the record after they have the record AND the b-sides on their computer.
Get over yourselves, they're a band who is trying to make a career out of what they love. Do you ever think that maybe they are devastated over the leak? They took a long time writing this album from the last and maybe this is the one their most proud of ... But a bunch of 15 year old kids just couldn't wait and now everything they've done is on the internet.

ouch... nah, i don't know about this comment, i havent downloaded the album and not planning on it but i guess other fans where just excited and couldn't wait. But i did get called nota true fan because i hadn't downloaded the new album which was very stupid. i partly agree wit this girl though on how so many fans want to know about thei hair and stuff ( isn't there a thread dedicated to pics of calebs 'long' hair?)

i just wrote a nice little rant in response to these comments but it wouldn't let me post it! alas my creative juices are no longer flowing so all i can say is that i will discuss humourous gossip, the length of the bands' hair and their clothes if i please, because they are an added bonus to their musical loveliness.

Also when you put yourself in the public eye and want the spotlight that these guys have you also ask for the scrutiny. You know just because you generally like something doesn’t mean you have to agree with everything that comes from it. I myself plan on buying both the album and the single. Oh and I’m not 15 either. |

If you loved their music so much why don't you want to help them? AMEN. I'm prolly gonna get my karma farmed, but why do you think they put such a cool B-side on the single?? So people would buy it! If you circulate it around like you're doing, none of the fans are gonna pick it up. I just downloaded it... and I just preordered the single: Amazon.com: On Call Pt.1: Music: Kings of LeonIf you downloaded it and enjoyed it, the right thing to do is spend the money and buy it. It does make a difference. If everybody here bought that single, that means something to the record company, y'know? Those are important figures. DON'T BE THIEVES. Buy the single. |

Don't kill me guys but I have to agree with kolgirl...I love these guys and I know most of you will buy the single and album anyway but it still must be a kick in the balls for them. They have worked really hard and deserve all the success in the world only to have a little of that glory taken away from them.  Don't kill the girl for voicing her opinion, it is allowed is it not? |

Beacuse there's a room for everybodys saying is that the thread of "dissapointing album" exists and also this, I agree with free speach but also it was a bit hard, putting everybody in the same bag is not a good things as well, but as I say, I agree with free speach and I welcome everyone that tries to make their point. I also downloaded it and will buy it, and if I can find the single, 'cause here in Argentina sometimes they don't get here, will buy the single too, and to be quite honest don't give a fuck about their hair, clothes and girls, and I'm 23  All in all, yeah let's just say what we mean trying not to be so let's say... plural. |

agreed KOLgirl you made a valid point and i appreciate an educated opinion, but the insults are not needed.. this is a fan forum we all share an interest and that is KOL music, so don't go insulting us for being on the board, because we can quite easily piss off, and then they will have no on-line community  which equates to no fans. and just for the record i am going to buy the album and single luv, even though its not as "cheep as chips", if you know what i mean  |

I have to say this before I say anything else, the kings have plently more fans than just the ones that are part of their online communities, and even if they were to piss off their entire online community fanbase, there are still so many more people who would buy their music and remain fans. So it would just equate to less fans. Ok, now that that is off my chest, I completely agree with your other points, as I do with Buck's, Aby's, and most of Vienna's. Some people do have problems targeting their anger at everyone and not just the one's they're mad at, but that can't be their excuse for everything. Please think thoroughly before blowing up at everyone and accusing them of being 15 year old fans with no other life. I may prefer ohdusty but I'll still come on here to defend kol's fanbase in general. I would also like to add that all of the 15 year old KOL fans that I know like the king's music but are oblivious to what the kings actually look like. I'm sure this only applies to America, but the younger youth are more interested in mainstream music and ideas, and when they do hear good outside music they enjoy it, but they don't embrace it like they do MTV. I think less people would be mad and/or fighting what you said if you had posted this in the thread where their single was linked. ...And any other thread that had links to their new upcoming album*. If you had done that people would understand that you aren't targeting this at everybody and just the ones you're mad at. *i don't even know if there are any other threads, I'm rarely on here. |

i did not mean that their only fan base is an on line fan base, i thought you could make your own assumptions based on what you have written on my post and not for me to explain things so explicitly.
what i meant that an online fan base is good, but word gets around, and they can quite easily loose that part, i did not suggest that by loosing an online fan base that they will be finished, and that's the only fans that they have!, bloody hell couldn't you get that from my post?

People keep telling me to come back over! I'm never gonna get to leave. lolol Man, I agree with people on both sides of the argument. When it comes to buying records and singles, it's really hard for very good and true fans to understand that just downloading the song is wrong. Everybody steals via the Internet nowadays, so much so that it's barely looked down upon in certain contexts, y'know? Like, I've been stealing interviews off the 'net left and right, chopping 'em up and uploading them so people can see 'em. Sometimes it's hard to see the difference between that and clicking on a download link to the new song. If you can get something for free, you break the chain of supply and demand. And you hurt the band! You really do. Even though people are born with talent, they deserve to be compensated for their work. kolgirl seemed pretty mad when she posted and she prolly shoulda counted to ten before she wrote what she did. I agree. But hell! I've said some pretty bad things online that I've been ashamed off. And fans tend to say things very teasingly. They're things that a brother or a cousin could take casually, but the band isn't in that kinda relationship with the fans. I mean, it's a weird concept! After watching interviews and listening to music and stuff, you tend to feel that you "know" a musician, and then you tend to let things slip out in online discussions. This type of media is new. Human beings did not evolve with it. People fall in love with shadows on a screen! I dunno. I'm losing my point! A "true fan" is hard to describe. I don't even think people in the band would know a "true fan" if they saw 'em. |
