Maybe this has been asked for a few million times but I'm curious what this outtro is. I just simply love it. Is it a reference to an older song? Or somebody else's song? I noticed the same tune on the intro of the King Of The Rodeo video. In fact, I even ripped the song to my computer, cut this part out and encoded it as a ringtone..am I a nerd now? Anyway, I hope someone knows what the story is behind it.

I don't think that makes you a nerd that sounds awesome, and I don't think anyones asked before. I always thought it was a song fragment that they hadn't quite developed into a full song so planted it there hoping it would grow.

You know, on one hand I hope this will be released as a full song someday as it is brilliant in my opinion...but on the other hand, maybe they should just leave it as this..its perfect the way it is, maybe they shouldn't mess with it any further..

I find it to be completely brilliant ! I mean, that song just go and shows how much the boys have mature, musically wise, between the album. The YAYM its like a bar record, you know, the things you would play at clubs and stuff. But in ASH they're finding their place in the studio and as musician.
I just can't wait what they'll come up with in their next album.

oh my god i know exactly what you mean. that outtro..or is it the intro to king of the rodeo? whatever...it's my favorite part of the whole album. when i listened to the album for the first time it took me ages to realise it was just on the end of slow night so long and i thought i was going insane imagining stuff. hahaha i kept looking for it at the beginnign of songs.
but yeah, i don't think they should make it longer. it would ruin it i think.
i'll tell ya what though, i really really really hope they have that "just call my name and i'll come a'runnin" bit on the new album. as a little outtro perhaps? i need to have it on record somewhere.

Hey there, just came across this website... KOL are my absolute favourite band. Do we have many UK folks on here?
It caught my, this particular thread, as I have always loved the outtro.
Starwards, you are not a nerd, you are infact a legend! Can you organise emailing me the cut of that in a ringtone ready format? I'd love to have that ring on my cell!

Today I tried banging out this very outro on the piano. It's fun. I hope I could develop it so that I could involve all the instruments some way or other with only my two hands. And, of course I've got the chords and everything figured out. My favourite part is the 22 notes played by the piano at the end. Fun, fun.

Nah thats from BDO 2006 Live set. The album outro is "Rise and shine all you gold digging mothers are you too good to tango with a poor poor boy....." And I too spent ages looking for this "track"

I just found something funny : the band that is playing before KOL in the video King of the rodeo is playing the outro of Slow night!
Instead of playing it "calypso bossa nova" they played it country western... check this on youtube!
