yeah, I think it's both. I think it's a play on words. but maybe not. haha. and it's about their mom? i'm pretty sure i read that somewhere. i don't know where to find the article though, but they said it was about a preacher in one of the towns they were in who was trying to get with their mom. i wish i could remember where i read that  |

Caleb said in an interview that "the bucket" was about him hating the person he was when he got wasted on tour and stuff. Like i'll be the one to show you the way, you'll be the one to always complain --- it's him talking to himself ... Does anyone know what i'm talking about?? haha

I haven't read the whole thread so I apologise is I repeat something.
*I think The Bucket is about self loathing.
I took it as being about Rooster and Caleb.
Kicking the bucket is about death, like "Lucy kicked the bucket" aka "lucy died"
"You kick the bucket, I'll swing my legs"
I think that's Rooster kicking the bucket and Caleb swinging, as in suicide by hanging oneself.
Cause Caleb always talks about his kinda of alter ego Rooster and how he hates him(self)
Another reference to suicide is
" alway remember the pact that we made
too young to die but old is a grave"
kind of like a suicide pact, maybe. As if sayin, "you're gonna die someday, may aswell be now"
"I'm gonna show the way"
May that means Rooster is showing the way to self destruction?

^That sounds good. I've never thought of the lyrics that way. I never really think about the lyrics for some reason.
It took me about a month for it to dawn on me what this song meant, "just tie the rope, and kick the chair, just leave me hanging there gasping fir air" Once I realized what I had been singing for a month I freaked out. Haha.

What is this for? What kind of project is it? it's something like a senior project for school. basically i'm making a video. it's kinda hard to explain how i'm doing it. i'm making a collage and then take a picture of it, then i change it, take another picture and so on.. and in the end you can put all the pictures together in some movie programm on the pc and then you'll get pictures which move. and i'm using this song - obviously. and for a better understanding i thought it would be helpful to understand the lyrics.. thank you all!!! you're helping me a lot. i love you guys  you're awesome. |
