ok so most (and by that i mean there are also some, for me, really hard ones to play!) of the bass lines on both kings albums are fairly simple but are there any other bassists in here who find Jared's parts SOO satisfying to play?! I know I could've shoved this thread in some other other bass related thread but thought i'd show my true appreciation for Jared's talents by starting a new one...
i'd like to know which ones you enjoy playing most hope that made sense! x

it made sense although i don't actually play the bass, but thought i'd post anyway (hope that's ok ...i should be working, but by posting on threads of no relation to myself, it stops me from doing so...now that made no sense). but i wanna play bass! i might start learning in the summer, fingers crossed! (after exams ).xx ooh, listening to AHSH....the bass on razz .xx

Don't play bass either, do play guitar though (maybe I could start same thread about guitar, hmm).
If i did play bass though i would learn Soft, jared's bass carries that song.
even though it's my least favourite song on the album.

haha, exactly. I went to my friend's party on Saturday, and about five mins in they played Soft...I was just recovering from a sore throat, and then.... It doesn't hurt anymore, but it's very husky (and apparently) quite sexy, haha. Although I sound like I've been smoking cigars, haha.xx

I love Soft, i think its the best of the new stuff. I dont think the Kings stuff is all that great to play on guitar- - it seems to me that most of the songs are largely built on the bass line, so i can understand u bassists liking to play their stuff. However, Red Mornin Light is a dream to play on guitar

Yeah Red Morning Light is amazing to play esp. the drop down from G to F#, and the solo is pretty funky too.
My favourite to play is probably Molly's Chambers for it's simplicity in the chorus, I can't help but do some headbanging when i play that.

cool choices guys! i just learnt joe's head yesterday...soooo fun! i really love playing soft aswell...and razz but i cant play it without a pick...which is bad because it sounds so much better without! OH MY GOD! ok i didn't think i should start a new thread for this but prepare yourselves all you bass hailers...... my brothers saxophone teacher (who also plays guitar) reckons the bass is not a real instument!!! i couldn't believe what i heard!

Yes, the basslines are the ones that make you put your lips and bop your head... It sets up the rythem (along with the drums) and it is what makes you want to dance. If he continues being this good he will become one of the greatest bassist of our generation.

We've just got a new bass player in our band and he's coming up with some cool stuff. Up until now, I've never really appreciated bass playing to a great extent, but now, when I listen to (any) songs, it's the bass that's sticking in my head. It's kinda hard when you're trying to tab new songs...!
