yeah, I admit I can be kind of fickle...except when it comes to my absolute favorites bands (ex. kol)...but I'd say bk fitting in the top ten is much more reasonable than top five.

mm good choices!!
I'd have to say those three definitely fit into my top ten.
I was just thinking about my criteria (if i had any, I usually try not to think of music in those terms) for what I consider to be the best bands/ musicians... and I've realized that it's really hard to draw the line between old and new. I generally think that good music is good music and you shouldn't differentiate, but I was just thinking about some of the newer bands that I've been listening to lately-- with the exception of kol-- like the black crowes, the strokes, the black keys (ben kweller too), and it's always difficult to know where to place them in relation to your sacred artists, your bob dylan's, your velvet underground's, your rolling stones'... It may be superficial, dumb, whatever you want to call it, but I almost feel like a band should have been around for a while (like I said, kol isn't a part of this, because for good or bad I can't control the fact that they're my current favorite) for me to be able to say that I consider it to be in my top five, ten or twenty bands of all time.
do ya'll feel that way?

yeah i do know what you mean! you think well i know theyre amazing but what if my long term feeling isnt this, am i just getting carried away with the moment. (or something like that) but my ultimate top is the beatles, and always will be. and number two kings of leon, they're too great to have anyone else up there. but you lot all know that and number three is willy mason, i know he's like quite new but he is absolutely amazing and i know that he's there to stay in my list. and i guess it has been nearly a year since i saw first heard of him so i cant see me going off him or anything as he's just so so great that it makes me mad when people think he's rubbish. i dont see how you can think that! anyway thats my top three lol

I haven't listened to the bens much. I think it's because of all of the bens, bk is the only one that I really like. ben folds is really talented (his piano skills are insane!) but his sound is kind of gimmicky to me.... at a point, for me at least, all of his songs start to sound the same. I don't know much about ben lee (although his new cd cover is really cool looking!).
