They were quite good tonight. Caleb is awesome, got one of his plectrums and so did my friend and he got a drum stick too. So yep, they were good. The new songs sounded really good live too

They were amazing last night. They played a lot of new stuff...not sure about titles but I think Sarah was complaining that they didn't play Velvet Snow. But they did play Wicker Chair, which is always good. xx

First off I have to admit that I'm no KOL obsessive but I was really looking forward to seeing them last night. Friends of mine have been big'ing them up for ages. To be honest though I was pretty disappointed. I think they're nothing special live: charisma-free, average musicianship, bland songs.
However, if you’re going to see the band get there early and check out the support – The Mooney Suzuki - these guys really rock. Great tunes (ok, somewhat derivative of the Stones and MC5 but fantastic nonetheless), great playing and real attitude.
Sorry and all that but IMHO the Kings were definitely outshone last night.

i dont get the whole mooney suzuki thing! i really dont think they are good, and tbh they remind me of the darkness in a weird way.
anyway, kings.
i dont know the setlist order but they played: four kicks, milk, taper jean girl, razz, king of the rodeo, soft, pistol of fire, the bucket, still nights so long, mollys chambers, red morning light, spiral staircase, joe's head, wasted time, happy alone (opened with it), california waiting, wicker chair, trani and a totally new one!
they were brilliant as usual, really really great! and i got a drumstick and a plectrum too, where were you stood ben? front middle, i'm guessing? i think i was near you...

i thought they were fucking amazing... they sounded so good and the set list was nearly perfect. slow nights so long was probably the highlight of the set for me... and milk. the crowd were loving the new stuff too.

i was sorta there with the aid of sarah and her mobile phone ( ) and from what i heard lol they sounded on top form, totally tight amazing brilliant, wonderful and i was so happy i started to cry haha i'm a twat. i heard one song that went awhhh huhhhh yeahh hehhh awhh huhh yeahhh hehhh dunno what it's called but wow!! i loved that one (i'm still being gd and not listening, roll on MONDAY) and i heard milk and the bucket too i reckon they sounded as good if not kinda better actually than they have before. probably cause they've had a break now & they sounded all fresh and fun haha SATURDAY i'll be phoning you back hehe k*x
oh and Aha (like you deserve that name with your post!) i've spoken to people with your opinion before. & you're kinda right, they can't play that well, they aren't super talented at what they do !BUT! what makes them the fucking genius' that they are is the way that they play their instruments. it's hard to describe but they're able to put so much of themselves into their playing and into everything they do with that band musically that in a way they kinda don't need to be any better because they've found a way to express themselves clearly with the talent they do have (very resourceful! haha) & there's no need for them to be any better, cause they're kinda the best, cause it's got to be the most difficult thing to be able to express yourself through an instrment. as to caleb, it would be nice if he spoke more to the crowd but you never know one day outta the blue he may just start reciting a poem. i dunno, he's got charisma, they all do, it doesn't take spoken communication with the audience to have charisma. it takes the whole package and i'm sad if you can't see how much they just shine on that stage.
as to bland songs? pah! get a soul!
yeah but i really think with that band that you either get it or you don't. and you dont so byeeeeeeee
