I read it in a mail I got. The gig was supposed to be on December 3. I don't know anything about why, if they've cancelled other gigs or if they're going to set up another date. I'm having problems with my flash player, so I can't view the official site. Any information would be nice. I'm so disappointed! I was really looking forward to it.

I'm starting to wonder if they cancelled it due to poor ticket sales. I got to see the official homepage now, and they've just removed the date completely, and it doesn't say a thing. Now, I expected poor ticket sales in the beginning, since there hasn't been much fuzz about the Kings here since they gave out YAYM. We don't have NME or any other magazine to sort of 'remind' us of them, but I'm sure that when the new album comes out, all the papers will write about it (and EVERYONE reads news papers in Norway) and their popularity will increase. Another thing is that there has been an incredible amount of good bands playing in Oslo this fall, and it will continue out December. I, for example, dropped seeing Motörhead so that I could afford seeing Kings of Leon. I think that represents the tendency here nowadays. But anyways, this is just a theory, and I don't actually know how many tickets that were sold. I really hope they'll set up a new date...

so do i. btw this whole thing is really fascinating! i'm British so without realising it, i do take a lot of things to do with gigs and bands in general for granted. but reading what it's like in uhm Scandinavia(?) i'm showing how ignorant i am of the differences. i have a real urge to just travel around today & experience different cultures. you're kinda lucky that your country is so eccentric. Britain is just boring and western. things work here and bands play here and everyone knows where britain is. dunno just must be cool to be your own lil country. like watching the eurovision song contest that's always uhm an experience hehe anyone know what the heck i'm talking about?

Wow! Dirty Bird - Norway is not that different at all! It is in fact very influenced by the USA as well as Britain, and it is indeed a typical Western European country. It's just that we only have 4,5 million habitants, so there's not always a big enough market for stuff (like f.ex. rock n' roll magazines), but I can still buy NME and Kerrang in the drug stores, it's just a bit expensive. Of course, small countries are easily ignored. But then again, Norwegians buy shitloads of music, so bands tend to come anyway. It's just a shame. I've been to a lot of concerts, and in five years only two bands I was meant to see have cancelled: TOOL in 2002 and now the Kings. Maaan, I would like to know why. Not even the venue's homepage says anything about it.

It's really weird. I didn't see anything about the gig in Norway or Sweden anywhere, I just found out through the venue's mailing list. I think it was cancelled before they even put up the date. It's like it never really happened, except for that I have the ticket at home!

That's so weird FF - you have a ticket for a gig that'll never happen. That ticket could be worth squillions of euros in years to come. But I'm sure that's not really any compensation for not seeing them actually play the bloody gig.

Attention: I now know why the Kings cancelled their Norway gig. I mailed the venue and the lady there was kind enough to give me a response. Apparently they couldn't afford to come to Norway. They're not setting up a new date. It's sad, but now that I've gotten an answer I will stop obsessing about this. And I suggest we help the poor bastards get filthy rich by buying lots of KOL albums, concert tickets and merch! Maybe they'll come around later. We can at least hope to see them around here during festival season? I would certainly like to see Kings of Leon play at the Norwegian Wood festival (just a little hint in case KOL members/management sees this post ) Ciao!
