ya ya that's exactly the same way i feel! i saw the strokes/kol gig in melbourne.. err a little secret i went just for leons. but the boys totally blew the strokes off stage. they didn't stand a chamce. i mean following the leons. they have to be shaking in their boots mwahahaha. but they were so much better and played raw with real guts. the strokes were a little err how do i say it *cringes* well i thought they were a little bland when i saw them. and i know it's gonna sound like i'm being biased and all well yea i am a luni leon lurver but they were soo much better and deserve recognition. Bah to local press grr they need a kick up the jolly rancher..

arhhH didn't the BDO kick it good?!? that's so sad that u missed their set. but i know i had soo many clashes too i ended up missing half the bands i wanted to see. but thems the breaks i suppose.. who did u see instead? o did u get to see muse? i missed them and i also missed their sideshow. i went though on the off chance a ticket might turn up but i was outstaged and thus had no chance. there was a line near a thousand strong waiting to get in2 the venue and a group of desperates at the entrance with posters and signs begging for tix hence the i had no chance factor.. but then the next day i found out that their still may have been hope. a lil beam of light had shone down on my friends friend. (argh so close was i yet so far away) the lucky lad was from PERTh no less. he came down for the gig but didn't know it was sold out. but fortune was his friend cos whilst getting his happy snaps developed who should be behind him in the cue? ya none other than matt bellamy himself! he got tix and backstage passes etc etc. how sweet was that!

but woa u gots to meet the boys yea!? that's so cool! and bring on the pics.

Yes...I suppose bland could be one way to describe The Strokes. Admittedly, they were technically great and really polished but it was almost like they were going through the motions, ...but once again, just my opinion.

I wouldn't go so far as to say I 'met' KOL, but I was in the same room as them and standing behind Caleb, as in his back was against mine (ehhhhhehhh) ... I am bit shy when it comes to that sort of thing, so I didn't talk to anyone. Haha! So bad...I felt a bit wrong perving on Caleb, and ESPECIALLY on Jared, cuz he's such a lil boy! heeeeehhe.....I mean, I'm only 4 years older, but I still felt wrong...hahahah

As for the Big Day Out, the time table here was really dumb. Yes, my main reason for going was to see Muse, and they were on about the same time as KOL as well as the other band I wanted to see, Mars Volta! Arck! I had to sprint from one end of the grounds to the other. Muse were soooooooo good, they completely rocked out. Matt said that they would be back to tour in October, so cross your fingers, you may get your chance after all! I got some pics of them too, so if any of them turn out I'll let ya know.

Who else did I catch? Um, the Darkness, the Datsuns (the lead singer has such great skin in real like, it's like alabaster! ), errr...a bit of the Dandy Warhols, some Flaming Lips. Man! The Flaming Lips show was awesome! Balloons everywhere, and people in animal costumes...so funny

Yeh, we were at the BDO after party, (obviously), and my bro was talking to the dude from Butterfly Effect. He seems pretty nice. They all do really...except Metallica were a bit strange. Lars and James had bodyguards hangin around them. As for KOL, the funniest thing was on the Saturday night after the show with The Strokes, we were at their hotel bar, and Jared walks in with two girls (definitely groupies, they were Perth gals), and he says to one of them as he walks past me in a whiney-esque voice, "Baybeeee, I gotta go make peeee peeeee"...hwahahaha...I cacked myself. A rock star needing to make peee peeee? And he he was like, "Wait for me ok? I'm gunna make pee pee..." And off he went. Hah...so funny Caleb was quite drunk and kept rubbing Julian from the Strokes' back very affectionately...very cute. I was having naughty thoughts in my head...but I'll keep them to myself...eh heheh

Gosh, I need to stop going on and on about this. eeks.

Um...yes, I guess that's his name? I just know him as the singer of Butterfly Effect...ahah... My bro was rather engrossed in conversation with him regarding that other Brissie band Cog. He seemed really nice, he got one of my bro's friend's numbers and said he would call to hang out next time they were in town. Heehee. So maybe I will have more stories to tell...

And as for Dolf, I didn't speak to him (because as mentioned I was a boob and just stood around overwhelmed by it all)...BUT he did walk past me at one point in the lobby, and there was some funk music being played by one of the Basement Jaxx boys who was DJing, and he kind of jive walked past me, and we both smiled at each other in acknowledgement of the great tune. So, from that I gather that he is rather ok...why do you ask?

I'm trying to remember any other KOL moments that I eavesdropped on...

Oh yah, to continue on from the pee pee story, the girls definitely waited for Jared and were clinging on to him like anything. Heh. At least they kept their hands off the others! Anyway, at about 2 or 3 am, they all head out of there, presumably to the rooms...at this point I was quite tipsy and unaware of how loud I was talking, and I sort of said real loud, "Oh look, he's going to get some with the groupies!" to my friends...and then I see someone near me turn around and laugh at me, and it was Nathan. Damn, I was so embarassed...I didn't know where to look. My friends were giving me evils...heh heh. Can't take me anywhere. Ooh, and it should be noted that Caleb is quite a bit of a rump shaker, he was getting on down to some Jackson Five number at the after party with Fab, and lemme tell ya, the view was pretty good...very bootylicious. Nacho was real funny too, he seemed to always be in a really good mood and full of energy, running around and chatting up the girls. Haha...rock stars

Oh, and the Black Eyed Peas are pretty sleazy actually. I was a bit grossed out by some of the dirty dancing going on...haha. I'm such a prude.

I was real jealous when my friend went over to speak to Caleb. He offered her a sip of his beer! Curses! Caleb spit! Guh! Haha...he mentioned to her that he wanted to beat some guy up, and she was like...er, why? And he said, cuz he's wearing a pink hat...and then he started laughing to himself. There WAS a guy wearing a pink hat and he did look a fool, but I think Caleb was just joking...unless there was some punch up that I don't know about. Eheheh.

Oh muh gosh. Must stop....ehhee. Must get back to mundane reality

hello! im a newbie, and just discovered this site... what took me so long i dont know!
i went to the two sydeny BDO's and saw the kings both days
both days they were absoulatly brilliant! they were awesome the first day, the crowd got really into them and i was surprised by the size, because as someone said, they're not hugley well known here. A girl flashed her boobs, which made them all grin and caleb said something about how nice it was to see a pair..
On the saturday the crowd was bit more resevered, but the boys were still great.
that story about jared and the 2 groupies made me laugh! fantastic about how u got to go to the afterparty!

i have to say that i was worried about going to the BDo this year. i hadn't been for a few years. the last one i was at was not the best. it was really crazy so i thought i'd hang up the battlegear for good. but i'm soooo glad i went. O and kol were there so i had too. but this turned out to be the best festival i've ever been to. some can be kind of blah n all but this was great. the mosh pits went off and the battlescars rock! i lurv festivals with gruff.. memories r sweet

As for this year's BDO, gnomesnatcha, I actually was feeling a bit eh about it for some reason. I was majorly pooped from the gig the night before so that coulda been it. Last year I was so frikkin excited about Jane's Addiction I actually braved the mosh during Queens of the Stone Age to secure a spot right against the railing...it worked but I seriously thought I was going to die. I didn't really even hear any of QOTSA cuz I was too busy trying to breathe. I can't believe how nasty the guys in the mosh can be, even to lil ole me! hehe. We went to the afterparty last year too...it is actually really easy to get in here, I think cuz Perth's so small and laid back.

But this year they were a bit more anal about it...we almost didn't get in, but some roadie from the Black Eyed Peas let us in (all 5!!!hah!) cuz one of my friends managed to score him some happy cigarettes. Heh....Oh, and have I mentioned that the Strokes and KOL were wearin the same outfits both nights? KOL weren't too bad because they had different gear on stage, but the Strokes literally didn't change from their stage gear at ALL. And they were wearing full on suits and sweating like crazy! Funnily enough, you would think the place would have reeked but it didn't...wow, how irrelevant was that point?

But anyway, can't wait to watch it all again this weekend on Channel V! Woop woop!

o u have just stumbled upon one of life's other BIg mystery. the no smellage issue. how does that happen?! now i know that some bands reek like it's everybody's business but some well... these lads i met after their gig smelt like fresh air. wierd way to discribe it i know but i cant think of anything else. and they were really sweating on stage. but nada no zip on the smell. i don't get it. and they didn't change or anything. they were outside for a lil while but the smell should have followed them in cos they didn't have that much of an airing (haha) and i remember thinking that very thing when i met them. where's the smell? it's gross thing to think but cos it wasn't there i was baffled. and he had a purdy jacket too. i wanted it. but i wasn't allowed to have it lol


o and ur brave chickie. the D barrier is a monster but that late in the evening, well ur a STAR!~ i got pummelled a few times this year. but cos a lot of the crowd was little uns i managed to get out ok. but i still really despise with grit teeth those crowd surfers. they hurt and u have to constantly have a heads up or it ouch crunch time.

and way to go for getting in. that's craft my biggest problem is that i'm never in the right place at the right time and i never know where things are going. grr i always hear about it too late. but thems the breaks. but u go girl!

i was thinking the same! sure caleb, like u dont get the chance to see 20 different pairs of boobs each day...

i was just talking to a friend today about the clothes issue!! we were looking though our pics and noticed that the bands, especially jules from the strokes, wore the same outfit for all the shows!! well, he defianlty wore the same thing at the hordern and the saturday of the bdo.. i was abit too wasted on friday to notice that outfit!
and ive got a question about their choice of clothes, why were all the bands wearing jackets, scarves etc?? didnt they notice it was about 30 degrees??

I dunno what's the deal with wearing the gazillion layers... I mean, of course, I guess it's their image and stuff, and good on em for managing not to collapse from heat exhaustion, but I personally could not do it. Full on velvet suits, man! Heee. As for KOL, they're lucky they look good in clothes that are two sizes too small! heheh. The shirt Caleb was wearing at the hotel is in a few pics I've seen on this site. Oh memories.
