Everyone feel free to let us all know about a band/artist you like who are not so well known. Today my tip for great things are The Kinetiks. Let’s start at the beginning shall we…… We play sub 3 minute pop songs & are proud of it. We don’t set out to write songs that need 30 plus plays to grow on you. We try to write songs that get inside your head on first listen and stay there. We try to be as original as possible but get loadsa comparisons to bands past and present. Some of them we take as big compliments, some, not so much. We rehearse in a portacabin (it used to be a visitors room in Mountjoy prision!) in a truck yard in North County Dublin. Sounds romantic? It is….kinda. In the last 18 months that we’ve been together we’ve had a ball, worked with some amazing people and played some gigs that I’ll be telling my grand kids about in 50 years. The next couple of months are gonna be very exciting, hope to see yiz soon. www.myspace.com/kinetiks1 Check them out guys!

Ah right, I just wondered cause everyone knows everyone in Dub. A friend of mine supported them when they played The Village, I thought they were good.

Oh nice topic. Karma! The EffectsThe Effects are a new rock band from Tulsa, Oklahoma (That's where I'm from!) They play southern rock/retro heavy metal. If you go to their myspace play the song "Zeus" or "Turn on the World", damn good songs. If you love Kings of Leon then you will most likely love these guys too. www.theeffects.comwww.myspace.com/theeffectsThe AnswerOne of my favorites. They're kinda like Aerosmith, ACDC, or Lynyrd Skynyd. But they're really doing their own thing. www.myspace.com/theanswerrockwww.theanswer.ieThieves and LiarsHeavy rock, like Zeppelin meets Metallica. Listen to "Good Times" or "Alone". Terrific band. www.myspace.com/weareallthievesandliarsBrand NewBrand New is a band from New York I believe. I don't know why I like them, there's just something about them. They play like, in my own words, "Screamo Rock n' Roll". It's a very interesting combonation www.fightoffyourdemons.comwww.myspace.com/brandnewThe FormatThese guys you can kinda compare to Elton John I guess. Just without all the gay. Alot of happy-go-feel good songs. And I SWEAR, their guitarist looks almost exactly like me! He's the kinda skinny one with medium, brown hair. www.theformat.comwww.myspace.com/theformatWolfmotherThese guys are pretty well known, but incase you haven't heard of them, you're really missing out They play retro heavy metal/acid rock/and phschodelic rock n' roll. www.wolfmother.comwww.myspace.com/wolfmotherI hope you enjoy these artists! By the way, I am loving The Kinetiks. Thanks for sharing.

I was just thinking about my favorite live concert experiences...and seeing Wolfmother on their very first tour of the states was probably in my top 5...I've seen them several times since then...but being front row in a tiny club was amazing seeing as their sound is SO huge. They are really great, I hope their sophomore effort can live up to their debut.

The Black Lips! And well that's a kinda funny band and I like them Edit: I did not know until I start listening to Black Lips songs but they were in that pools and charts about the best album/band of 2007 along with Kings, so that's a score...
