i hope this thread will not be considered off topic or unnecessary, cause i think it's possible...
so, what's this about?!
thread theme sounds weird but i MEAN it!
i live in a small town called Sondershausen in Thuringia, pretty much in the middle of Germany. actually this town is more than just boring, nearly 20,000 people live here, more old than young people.
BUT there's something special about this little town: we have a salt mine, 700m under the town. my granddad used to work down there when he was younger, almost every 2nd old man in this town did.
a few years ago this salt mine was converted to a principal magnet of tourism, means people from near or far can visit the salt mine, take part in a tour down there, learn things about this mine, history and other stuff, but they can also go bowling (yes, 700m subsurface) or people can go and watch shows and concerts.
i don't know if anybody's ever heard of it, but queens of the stone age already played a show down there. i know, i was as surprised as you probably are right now. as far as i know it was something like a 'secret gig', fans from all over the world could win tickets for this show, around 350 people can go to a show down there. a dvd was also supposed to be released but for some reason it hasn't happened yet...
here's a snippet from the show:
yesterday i was at a little rock'n'roll cover gig down there, the band sucked big time. the only reason why i actually survived this show, was because for 2 hours i kept on imagining that the kings of leon would perform in this special place.
the atmosphere is amazing, the sound is awesome! the concert hall was built in a special way so the sound is really good, i swear!
i think it would be so awesome if the kings would play something like a special show/secret gig or whatever you wanna call it in this salt mine, not just because i live in the town above
so, what do you guys think? could we get the kings here? would you like to see them in a place like that?
does anybody know how and where we could contact the kings' management to make a proposal?
sorry, if you think this is bullsh*t, maybe i'm just having a intellectual flight of fancy
