Hey guys if anyone has links to articles or anything that seem relevant to the question (Ie. talk about or mention their managers, promoters during their career etc) it would be lovely! The question we have to write a research essay on is below. Kings of Leon is one of the two bands I have chosen seeing as I have always loved them.
The music industry is a continuum that recycles musical styles and fashions popular
among earlier generations – ask yourself why bands and artists often have hits with songs your mum likes. This assignment asks you to compare the careers of two commercially successful bands or artists during the last forty years from the point of view of their management and promotion. Choose two bands or artists from two different decades since the 1970s (i.e.1970s, 1980s, 1990s to recent times). Each band or artist must have a different musical style and you must avoid simply describing the history of your favourite genre. Factors such as the band’s material – original or composed by other songwriters – how long their success lasted and possible reasons why, the bands’/artists’ cultural background, historical events of the period that may have had an effect, and the reaction of the public and media to the band should be taken into account.
Seeing as this is the most knowledgable lot of fans that exist this is my first port of call

). It's not very good imo, BUT it does have quite a bit of background info that you can use for this assignment. I got it for 4 quid at HMV this summer, maybe the price has dropped even further now.
