that's a really good review carrie, I actually originally found it through bornagirl aka Jaye on twitter and just finished reading before logging on to happy alone...and I have to agree with you on the crowd. I've actually moved to Alabama now as opposed to visiting the States all the time. ...I've seen the previous one at the BJCC last September, I got bad karma for complaining about the crowd and then let my frustrations perhaps unfairly on the boys...because it was my first American show and it wasn't the same as back home in Ireland. But I was lucky in that I was standing next to a local Bama guy, who first saw them and was a fan when the kings played to nobody in 2004. I even know people now who remember when they did The nick and Zydeco and they were nobodies...There are some old skool fans there but there was also a lot of old skool fans that just don't want to know anymore since OBTN exploded so they werent present at the show. I read that Caleb has fine lip reading skills from one show where he saw two girls trying to make out whether TRANI was an old or new song in the audience...so I risked two blank A4s and scrawled Ire-land on it and assumed their fine reading skills,,,,and I had them the wrong way round for a good majority of the time!!! hahaha!! let the boys know somebody was gonna be there for em for the whole set...even the old songs... because I knew Plum Crazys audience comments were coming as soon as the show started. And it got me a shout out from Leb and drum sticks from Nate!!! horray!! My personal fav show for sure out of the ten odd Ive seen even though technically for the majority some folk wouldnt say it was stellar. Made my night anyway. Mary, Back Down South and Radioactive made their live debut to my ears....very pretty, cant wait for these to grow on me.

since this has been done I will just post a link to my photos. I think that would be easier and take up less time trying to load pictures if I posted them. I got pictures of everyone, they're not all that great but some are okay. Hope you enjoy them. xxwww.facebook.com/album.php?aid=226812&id=501446924&l=8ec87f76c4

She did say this, so I don't really know where the confusion comes in. I've actually moved to Alabama now as opposed to visiting the States all the time.

They did put on a real good show consider that Caleb was not feeling that well and Nathan's shoulder was killing him. After talking to someone about the show after it was over don't worry you weren't the only one that noticed the crowd was pretty bad for the most part. I know for a fact that the band noticed it also. They also noticed the people who were jamming out the whole time.

I know for a fact that the band noticed it also. They also noticed the people who were jamming out the whole time. Totally agree with you ^ I got pissed with two people beside me at the barrier because they kept trying to take a picture of themselves while KOL was playing behind them. Now don’t get me wrong, that would be a nice picture to have as long as they aren’t playing…otherwise I find it very rude, especially if you’re in the front at the barrier. I made sure to tell the two people (well yell at them actually) about how rude I thought that was and that they shouldn’t do that. When I turned back to the stage I saw Caleb laughing to himself and he looked over at me and gave me a huge smile. So, I’m sure he and the boys found it rude too.
I’d say the crowd was half and half. Half real true fans and the other half Sex On Fire/Use Somebody because Caleb made a comment before playing Sex on Fire saying “now for what you want kiddo’s” or something to that effect. Then later he made a comment about being able to tell the people who really got them and what they are doing and said thanks. I def think for a venue as big as it was, that everyone should have TOTALLY dancing and giving the Kings their all as the Kings were giving us their all. I mean Caleb was playing even though he was sick and Nathan’s shoulder was killing him. He played some of the slower songs with an ice pack on his shoulder, bless their hearts.
Okay, I’ll shut up now. Haha.

i agree 100% with what michelle wrote! i was sick and i was way more into it then everyone in my general area. the four girls in front of me and jess were gigantic douche bags!!!! they kept posing for pics during the non OBTN songs like they were at a concert having a good time yet not paying a bit of attention to the concert!!! i do remember caleb saying something about the people that really got them and i knew he was mad about the people just standing there.
the security guard at the show in texas last night told a friend of mine on twitter that he hoped they rocked out (or something to that effect) because caleb was pissed about the crowed at the last show (which was b-ham)

Yeah, I hate all the “new” fans who don’t really care about the music…don’t get me wrong I’m not hating on new fans all together, but only the ones who just care about OBTN stuff and that’s it. Maybe it’s just me, but when I like a band I like to get ALL and AS MUCH of their past music as I can! I like knowing all of their songs and then letting them see that when I’m in the crowd. I mean if I were in a band, I’d want to look out into the crowd and see people having a good time and singing along to my stuff.
See, that’s what my friend and I were talking about after the show. She thought the crowd was fine (minus the butt heads we had beside us) and I didn’t think the crowd was that great. I’m glad Caleb (and hopefully the other guys too) noticed their true fans out there.
Last thing and I’ll shut up. Lol. I really wish they would do pre-sale tickets for their fans…like from off here or kol.com board. Then once all the hardcore fans have gotten their tickets them release them for the general public to buy them. I’m sick of people who don’t seem to care about anything than OBTN getting all the good seats or buying them and then turning around and selling them for twice/three times the price of the ticket. It truly makes me angry! Ugh. Okay, I’m done. Sorry. :-P

Yeah, sorry for the confusion, Im still an Irish citizen, but recent resident of Birmingham AL now...but I know where I came from lol. I scribbled on two blank sheets, "Ireland" at least one of the boys on stage saw it, it looks like. Caleb acknowledged it & Nathan threw me his sticks. All valid comments, and yes...I had a group in front of me of people do the whole group photo of them with the stage behind but I think it was between songs, or during, must be annoying to the performer, I know it was to me, but yeah, well done to the lads for sticking it through the sickness and hurt...and its self evident how bad a crowd is when they obviously see individual people who are enjoying themselves contrast so badly against the people who aren't....its hard to hear those comments from that security guard in Texas, hopefully Im still here next time the boys roll round, at least ad another number to the crowd that will go ape for em... Having said that there are a lot of old fans round here that simply didnt go to the show because they were too poor or they didn't like the direction of the music since OBTN, but basically attended those gigs back in 03 and 04 etc.. there are actually more of those fans than I thought would be here...

Crowd in B'ham sucked epically last year as well. Seriously, NOBODY except for us was rocking out at all. It was actually kind of pathetic. But OBTN was a little newer last year, tho it was ALREADY a year old by then, so to see that the same thing is happening this year just says that there is little to expect from them in general.

Michelle I've said that in the past too! They need a VIP type thing! Like The Dead Weather have The Vault and if you're a vault member you not only get tix before everyone else but you get in before everyone else! When I saw them in STL i thought I was guaranteed barrier but got in and the entire barrier was already taken by Vault members! It would cost us extra money but it would be soooo worth it! Especially those of us that travel a lot to see them multiple gigs each tour! I'd pay $150 a year to be a member if it meant I didn't have to run to the damn barrier anymore!

You know, that really wouldn't be a bad idea...but I don't think I could afford that much money on stop of travel expenses. However I'd def be up for something like that if it was less. At least that way the boys would know without a doubt that they'd be guaranteed to have & see nothing but full dedicated fans. I think we need to find some kind of way of making this happen...

It has to be expensive enough that crappy fans won't buy it but cheap enough we can afford it! I looked up what The Vault membership is and it's $7 a month for regular membership or $20 a month for a platinum membership. I'd pay either as long as I got presale tix and got into venues first without waiting in line for 8 hours. Plus give us some special merch/exclusive videos and stuff... *cough* pre show meet and greets *cough cough* Can we all collectively write to their managment about it? That would be awesome!

I don't say much on this board but when I do say something you can pretty much bank on it being true. I can truly tell you with out B.S.ing you guys at all that I have a very good inside source with the guys. I have been on this board for a while and I have yet to really meet or talk to anyone on here when I go to shows. It is completely my fault! I usually keep to myself haha but next time I am out at a show I would really like to meet some of you people.

^ Kingsfan, you know we'd all love to meet you. I've met a few people off of here at random KOL shows and all of them have been super sweet. Tho...I've met some crazy ones too. haha. But thankfully the sweet ones out number the crazy ones.
