As always, AMAZING show. As always, same flippin' set list!!! it's so frustrating. I've seen them 3 times this year and they opened with Crawl each time, played practically the same songs, and gave the same encore (except last night they ended with Black Thumbnail yesssssssssssss!) I would really appreciate them mixing it up a little... But with that complaint out the way, I had such a good time. It was my first time NOT being in the pit, I was up in the seats with all the SOF fans, so I was expecting to be a bit disappointed. But lemme tell you, I think I rocked out MORE than when I was at the barrier in Chula Vista. I had space to go insane and jump around like a mad fool, and I sang at the top of my lungs to every song because I needed to show the lame people around me how you're supposed to act at a KoL show!! Some chick behind me was like "omg you're an awesome Kings of Leon fan, you go girl!!!" It was a very different experience. I missed not being able to see all of Caleb's adorable facial expressions and eyebrow raises. To relish every detail. But I did enjoy that I could see the whole crowd and take in their show from a different perspective. I was surprised at how mellow people were...I think when I'm going crazy at the front I just assume everyone behind me is too lol. But no. In the seats people don't know the music at all. I was HORRIFIED when people got up and left after Use Somebody. Anywho...from what I could tell I think Chula Vista was a better show. Last night I noticed Caleb didn't talk as much, didn't compliment the crowd, and I don't even remember him drinking on stage...but I was so far away I probably missed it. I've been rambling for a while now...I'm just on such a high from seeing them twice in a week!!! And oh my goodness I fall more in love with their new music each time I hear it. AMAZING. You can tell Caleb really enjoys playing the new songs

Thanks for the review! Despite the set list and the quietness of the fans, still sounds like a good time.
Maybe they were a little subdued b/c their bus was hit by a car? Who knows. Or maybe the crowd really wasnt good. It's a shame. Never understood people who could plunk about a $100 bucks a night (ticket, gas, parking, beer) and just sit there, not knowing any of the songs.
Anyway, karma for the review.

OMG were you sitting behind me? There was a girl in the row right behind me that was going gaga for Matt! and knew the entire setlist! LOL!
Last night was my first KOL show ever!!! I had such a blast!!! They sound even better live! My favorite part was when Caleb started waving his arm during Knocked Up and everyone in the crowd copied! It was so awesome!

Last night was my first KOL show too! I had a wonderful time and the boys were AMAZING! They sound even better live! And Caleb's voice *sigh* I love him even more LOL! Have to agree with kolkjb though, the crowd was a bit lame. Except for a this couple beside me and some people a few rows behind, nobody else was singing along to the songs (except during SOF of course!) Trani was awesome and I loved their new songs! Best night ever lol!

Fortunately, almost everyone around me was going crazy too...except the lame girl right next to me who was texting/etc. the whole time. I thought I wouldn't be able to rock out much since I was feeling tired, but they perked me right up and I'm sure I represented just like kolkjb did. I thought the version of "Molly's Chambers" was the best I've heard in a long time...really energized as opposed to just going through the motions. The rest of the set was flawless, even though it was the same setlist (except for, sadly, the absence of Manhattan) as the H. Bowl and it sounds. like all the other shows on this tour, I didn't mind. Saw Pops Followill in the balcony above the side of the stage, plus Jessie rockin' on the opposite side. It was odd not to hear a speech from Caleb (or see him hoist his traditional shots with a Gatorade chaser). Must've been spooked by the car/bus crash. I left tired and happy...but a little sad feeling like I was just another one of the masses who now adore KOL like I did when I first heard them c. 2004.

Those hazy days they ain’t so bad when you’ve got Kings, the Kings I wanna see-e-eeeeeeee! ‘Twas my fourth time seeing them last night and the Followills were in top form. I arrived at the venue to hear the first opening band The Features from the parking lot; however, Built to Spill had just started their set by the time we got to our seats (yes, I was sitting towards the front of the Loge section by the sound board until KOL started at which time I remained on my feet and danced and sung my heart til the end of the set). I thought BTS were ok. The lead singer’s voice reminded me a bit of Michael Stipe from REM. There’s one or two songs I might look up and buy. Anyhoo, my main men started at exactly 9:30 and opened with ‘Crawl’ and ‘Taper Jean Girl’. The new songs they debuted were pretty darn good with Southbound being my fave. I thought the new tunes were well received by the crowd...most of all of which stood the entire time.
And duuuuude...they played ‘Trani’, a song I thought I would never hear live, but it surely made up for them not playing some of my faves It was soooo amazing live and I could see Jessie rocking out up in the rafters (you go, girl!). KOL has so many good songs that it would take a marathon of a concert to cover them all, so will wait til the day when that happens...surely one day it will, right, and when it does, I will be there. Le sigh...am sitting here at work with a huge case of post concert blues, but wanted to share my review from last night before I keel over from lack of sleep. I can’t wait until they come back to SoCal ‘cause I just love ‘em...always have, always will!! Keep up the good work, boys!!
Here’s the setlist which was tweeted earlier:
Crawl Taper Jean Girl My Party Be Somebody Immortals Molly's Chambers Fans Milk Closer Mary Four Kicks The Bucket Radioactive Sex On Fire Notion On Call Southbound Trani
Encore Knocked Up Use Somebody Black Thumbnail

So this was my first time seeing KOL twice in a week. I usually feel as if I black out during their shows because I can never remember details because I'm so blown away. But this time I knew what I was in for so I was able to pay more attention. Even though the setlist was identical, this show was infinitely more better than the Hollywood show. Even though some people said this crowd was lame, it blew LA right out of the water! It looked like the guys were having way more fun too! I brought my friend who's a huge fan but has never seen them, and his reactions to everything were priceless. It was all around a better show even though they cut the encore short. I'm way happier after this show, and even though the setlist is likely to be the same at every show and we're all disappointed, I feel like shit's gonna go down once they actually release the new album, so I'll wait patiently until then and listen to concerts opening with Crawl for as long as I can, because I'll know we'll all be rewarded in the long run. I mean they play Trani now, things are looking up.

There aren't very many old school fans in the OC..... I remember last time they played there, they headlined the Weenie Roast. The crowd sucked, I felt like I was the only one singing all the other songs.....
I sound like a debbie downer..... I'm glad you guys had fun, I wish I was home to watch the show!
