I was 8 when I went to the History Tour in 1997. I will never forget.

it's so sad what has happened, mainly because he was the same age as my dad so it reminds me of his mortality. he was probably the greatest showman of the late 20th century, and although its a loss to the music world i think the real jacko died sometime in the early 90s. he wasn't the same person for the last 10 years of his life.
i'm annoyed at how many people are updating their facebook status to "r.i.p. michael jackson", like they actually gave a shit. all the daily star readers i went to school with were probably amongst the first of those to lampoon him for kiddie fiddling. now its just turning into jade-goody-gate all over again. i've already been invited to join groups dedicated to him. what on earth do people think this will achieve? its ridiculous.
i'm currently contemplating the possibility that he's going to come back as a zombie in a red leather jacket, commanding his own zombie dance troupe of prematurely interred showbiz types. freddie mercury, kurt cobain, marc bolan, james dean to name but a few. best zombie dance troupe ever!

yeah amy my mum is 50 too, and she seems so young but it makes me remember she wont be here forever which is hard, other than that i feel sad for his kids and family. i loved some of his songs but none of them were recent ones, anyway im trying to say im sad for his family but i hope this doesnt go too mental.

its always sad when someone dies, but when people are more concerned about this than whats happening in the middle east it reflects the fact that we've become a little more than a heat magazine nation.
i currently watching TMF and all his videos are on. i'll get smited to heck for this, but i couldn't resist singing "BECAUSE I'M DEAAAD, I'M DEEAADD, SHAMONE!!!".....i'm just the worst kind of person.

^ I did have to laugh at that. You can’t be always serious about these things anyway.
My brother emailed me first thing saying ‘I knew Jackson was bad. Really, really bad’ and when I heard the news he died I said he’d do anything to get out of going to the O2 arena! I know…I’m horrid too.

lolzzz. i still think he's faked his death in order to escape doing the shows (more tickets were released the other day), and that he's now living a nomadic, self-sufficient life in a forest in montana.

Montana, how specific!!! Yeah at first I couldn't believe it, I thought it was a hoax, a publicity stunt taken too far. I hate how the Jade Goody-gate is happening all over again, it pisses me off so much!!!

It was inevitable that when he died it would be everywhere though; it’s just come a little earlier than people expected.
That’s all it will be for the next couple of weeks probably – considering his funeral and stuff.

At least Jackson actually made a contribution to the world, through music, though! Jade did fuck all in my opinion. I dont think the two can be compared.

RIP Michael. I couldn't believe it when my friend text me those 3 words. I nearly fell over my chair running to turn on Sky News or CNN. I wasn't a huge fan but i loved all his singles and recently had decided that seen as my birthday is really close to Halloween that i'd have costume party for my 21st and i was gonna teach my sister and a few cousins the Thrilller dance so we could do it at the party. Now it'll be weird .....i dunno if we'll still do it. Anyway my thoughts are with his family and children. Michael you did so much for the music industry and no-one can dispute your success and that you were indeed the King of Pop. It doesn't matter what style of music your normally into, i think most people would end up singing along to Michael Jackson songs. And you were the best dancer around. RIP

he completely changed the face of pop culture in the latter part of the 20th century. as an entertainer, very few people can hold a candle to him. infact the only person up there with him was probably freddie mercury and he was taken too soon as well. however, people seem to be completely overlooking the dubious part of his life, as they did with jade goody. personally i think he was just an intensely unhappy man and he went about addressing that unhappiness in all the wrong ways. i think he probably did have inappropriate relationships with children, but i don't think he really had a clue what he was doing. i hope he's happier wherever he's gone. however, we need to maintain some perspective. there's far more important things happening in the world, so we can't just suddenly divert all our attentions to a man who was really dead by 1995. today i'll watch his music videos as i think he created some of the greatest videos i've ever seen, and i'll listen to jackson 5 records, but i'm not going to mourn as i didn't know the man. i'm just going to get on with my life and so should everyone else. [when bob dylan dies this will be an entirely different story and i probably won't eat, sleep or shower for 3 months]

So am I supposed to feel guilty for paying attention to this? Should we all ignore it? I know there are ultimately more important things going on in the world, but that doesnt make you stupid for paying attention to someones death. Also I know that lots of other people will have died in the world today, and nobodys gonna be reporting on that, but thats just how this world works, doesnt mean its right but you cant change it. So why get all cynical about it. I know he has a dubious past, but wasnt he cleared of all those allegations? Not saying he's innocent but I wasnt directing that at anyone specific, Im just thinking out loud edit - Lowri you do make me laugh haha

Sky news just played pretty much the whole of thriller, it was pretty moving. I have a feeling there's gonna be loads of conspiracies come up saying he's not dead and stuff like Elvis. I reckon it was the stress of all the gigs he said he didn't even agree to doing, I think he said the other day his contract was 10? And he didn't look very healthy at the best of times. RIP x

Yeah it is all abit suspish, its the whole "no smoke without fire thing". I dont think anyone will ever know the truth. edit - thats was in ref to Amys post, not Sarahs about conspiracies!
I agree with the facebook groups and things, its like people just jump on the bandwagon as such, cos they think its cool or something? I dunno what they think, but they cant actually be upset or whatever about it.

same thing happened with jade goody. everyone suddenly forgot that they hated her, and made her into some kind of martyr. the mob is fickle.
and i still think its a conspiracy. he's probably staying with elvis on his ranch.
