^ Quite right they overturned it! You can’t have one rule for Eduardo and one rule for others. Think about all the dives that happen in every match – UEFA would be giving out bans left right and centre and the FA would have to follow suit…hence the game becomes even more of a pantomime. Eduardo was being made the villain of the piece which was highly unfair, so it was a dive (after what Eduardo went through with his foot practically hanging off I don’t blame him), loads of people do it….and did Celtic really think they had a chance of beating us? They were already 2-0 down from the first leg and we were at home. Highly unlikely! (It’s a sensitive area )

This post shall be entitled Ruth's Rant .....
Just watched Ireland play Italy in a World Cup qualifier. We started really well. Take an early lead through a Glenn Whelan peach of a goal. Came right from the training ground it did. Then what do we do? We retreat and let the world champions come at us. They level it up after 26 minutes.
Sat through possibly the worst 45 minutes of football thereafter. Ireland gave an exhibition on how to give away possession but low and behold with three minutes left we take the lead. St Ledger scores with a header afrer a free from Hunty. We are three minutes away from beating the holders. Happy days.
Spoke to soon. Italians get an equaliser, ends in 2-2 draw. Italy through to World Cup, we go down the play off route.
Mr Trappatoni, why so negative? Right we don't have the best players in the world. We have a good defence and a decent forward line. We don't have a midfield. Why? Partly down to lack of talent and partly down to you. Andy Reid has to be in the squad. Reid on the right and Duff on the left, when fit, is the way to go but no. Old man you are too negative. Yes we are unbeaten in the group and yes we're in with a great chance of making it. Yes, you're better than Stevie S but for fuck sake how can you be happy with the way we played tonight. Ireland were a disgrace. I know Trap's way is the Italian way but we don't have the quality to play like that.
Annoyed.

Sat through possibly the worst 45 minutes of football thereafter. You have clearly never been to a League One game. I really hope Ireland qualify though, it is always nice to have a few 'second teams' to support. I remember cheering you on in 2002 against Spain.

^^ Yep the Americans play football, but they do tend to call it soccer though.

So, england drew with USA, 1-1, was quite disapointed, but at the same time, force is to see that the US are not that 'shitty' team anymore, they actually played quite well, and it seems that this world cup is going to bring us surprises, like favourite teams will leave soon and some outsiders could go very far, who knows ?

USA were lucky and they have scored because of Green's mistake. But maybe they really are a good team, because last year Spain was beaten by them. I'm so afraid now that if they pass on to the next stage, they can beat them again. Oh no :/

We're out of the World cup, not that it is very surprising, but still we didnt think we would be out so soon and in such a pathetic way.

What a rubbish and boring World Cup this has been so far though, anyone agree? It’s on a par with the 2002 WC (yawn). Although I don’t know why I’m so surprised considering the standard of International football is so poor, it’s just something to tide us over before the real football begins in August! I would like to see a new winner of the tournament this year, although I have a feeling that will be unlikely – still, you never know!! And on a side note – how Fabregas cannot get into the Spain starting 11 is beyond me. He’s ten times better than all of the midfield they have….might be Spain’s undoing in the long run. Start with Cesc you know it makes sense

I do not agree that Fabregas is better than Xabi Alonso Also, Iniesta is playing well in this WC. But they should let him play from the start, at least for one match!
