Oh and I have one thing to add: if you don't want commercial fans, don't make a commercial album! your comment stood out to me and i wanna second that thought! i haven't said this in a while but i truly believe that being a fan involves criticising the band you love. it's like a friendship, if your friends don't tell you when you're screwing up, they're not keeping up their part of the bargain when they signed up to be your friend. in my honest opinion, i think caleb was having an off-night from the very beginning and yes someone threw a harmless beer at him and that was his cue to leave. and it majorly majorly sucks for the people who paid to see them play live. i would be livid. BUT he's a human being, everyone is allowed to have a bad day. and as long as they're touring non-stop for as long as they have, i think we might see these bad days more and more frequently. so yes. take a break kings. we love you. but we love you best in top form and apparently you love yourself best in top form as well.

I realllyy need a lot of time to have a rant here but i dont so im gunna make it quick. The songs the guys done were amazing. I really love ANGRY caleb. The crowd wereee extremly bad and i think i was one of only a few people singing, cheering and dancing. Was at the very front of the standing at the bar in the middle and caleb looked at me a good few times, even shook his head problee cos i was the only one singing along. I dont know why the crowd was so bad, i also didnt think glasvegas were good at all though i got a picture with the singer at the end. Went back to wait but i think kol got off straight away. Thats all for now. The band were on top form, the crowd wernt thats all .

I wasn't there, but it seems to me the crowd and the band had just an off day, that happens sometimes you know. I think the weather (it was really hot) and the venue (with seats? ) didn't help either. So next time come to Paradiso again! I know the venue can only hold 1000 people, but the crowd is going crazy, That's for sure! oh and it's close to my house

i have an idea pull a radiohead and stop playing sex on fire! hehehe haha I like the way you think Annie It could have been worse, he could have pulled out a Marilyn Manson Perth big day out 99 act and stomped off less than half way through the show becuase someone thew a coke bottle at the stage. Honestly though, i get why people who were there were pissed, I wouldn't be happy if they didn't play an encore when i went to see them but at the same time I can kinda of see why the band would be pissed too. I understand that everyone has paid good money to see them but i don't get why you would pay that kind of money and not get into it or why you would pay that kind of money to see a band when you only know two of their songs. Caleb has also said in numerous interviews that he knows that he has written better songs than SOF and i suppose if you were in his situation and people only really seemed to be enjoying your set when you played a song that you don't see as your best after months on end it might get a little agitating. The whole beer incident could have just been the last straw as well. If they really did feel from their point of view that the audience wasn't that into the gig and then you get a beer thrown at you it kinda makes you think fuck it, why bother? I understand that might not have actually been the situation but what people saw/perceived from being in the crowd and what the band saw/percieved from onstage can also be two very different things. Or Caleb just might have been in a shitty mood and felt like acting like a cunt. Who knows?

In general iffy crowds are part and parcel of massive arena gigs. Not all the time but a lot of the time. The grass is always greener on the other side. KOL wanted to be one of the biggest and best bands in the world, that's natural, but now that they are maybe they're realising it's not all it's cracked up to be. Aside from the mega bucks that is

About the dutch crowds:
Dutch crowds are usually a very skeptical bunch of people. Meaning that they think you might be the best band in the world right now, but you still have to prove yourself. And yes, most people only know SoF and Use Somebody, but that doesn't mean their not open minded for their older material. I remember when I was in Amsterdam On Call was better received then Sex on Fire. But because they don't know so many songs they take a lot longer to loosen up and jump around. But even if they're not jumping around, that doesn't mean they're not enjoying themselves. I mean, around me pretty much everyone was standing or sitting still, but they did all have huge grins on their faces, so that must mean they liked it right? Only, from the bands point of view you can't really see that. So, if Caleb was in a better mood, and they played an awesome encore, I'm pretty sure they could have won the dutch audience over and have the whole place jumping up and down. They just gave up too soon.
Also, I have to say again, it was really really hot in there. I was glad I could hold on to a barrier, because I was getting dizzy spells from time to time. I can only imagine what it would be liked if you had standing tickets with all these people packed together. If everyone was dancing and jumping all the time they would all have passed out before the end.

i have an idea pull a radiohead and stop playing sex on fire! hehehe Or Caleb just might have been in a shitty mood and felt like acting like a cunt. Who knows? The most likely scenario ^ As Timgrw says, playing to lacklustre crowds is part & parcel of being a band at KOL's success level. If you're willing to take the audience's cash, then you gotta give 'em what they paid for. Everyone's alllowed an off-night though. It doesn't make it right, it just makes them human

They just gave up too soon. I think you summed it up, Marcella. From all the reviews & comments from people who were actually there, that seems to be the case. Shame for the Dutch fans, and shame for the Kings.

Actually up untill this post i completly blamed the crowd but its pretty true was extremly hot and stuff, i had hold of the barrier aswell although i didnt stop dancing and that, my sister did faint so it wasnt good!!.

I agree with Marcella about the Dutch crowds, though once a band has proven themselves, the crowd does go wild. There are so many bands that say they love to play Holland because the crowd is so good.
I have a bigger problem with reviewers actually. They are often so~o sour! Everytime I've been to a great gig I'll read reviews the next day and wonder if the reviewer was even at the same gig..

I've now decided next time someone throws something at one of the boys instead of walking off the Lebster should just go all Josh Homme and the guys ass. You know call him out, call him a cock smoker and tell the crowd that when they see him after the show tell him to go eat a bag of dicks. That way we all win Douchebag who throws stuff at the band get embarrassed We get an encore plus we get to verbally abuse douchebag Caleb feels better after releasing his anger towards douchebag

really sorry to say this right now but german crowds mostly are conservative in comparison to uk crowds or whoever. when you watch an award show like 'echo' (german award) and theres a rockband playing a song everybody, i repeat everybody is still sitting and watching and afterwards they get a nice lil applause. when you watch an american award show and a band performs live, almost everybodys freakin out, dancing, standing, singing along. i hate this about german crowds, wish i could kick all their asses sometimes, but thats how most germans are. it's like nobody wants to stand out and be too loud, hope you know what i mean. i'm aware each and every crowd is different and there are german crowds who are really going crazy, but thats just not usual for a good ol' 'german crowd'.just wanted to say that. Maybe it's because of the language barrier. I don't know. However, there were a lot of strange people in the audience. Those people with mohawks, fake tan and Ed Hardy shirts, gothic girls dressed totally in black and hip-hop kids with reverse basecaps and big gold chain-sytle necklaces. I don't wanna judge people because of their appearance and I can't tell who relates to the music or not, but it didn't feel like a real Kings of Leon concert at all. i know what you're talking 'bout! i saw a few of these people too and it just looked weird. i went to a KOL show in feb in berlin too, and the crowd was like 3000 people and it was quite intimate and to be honest 3000 people sang the 'oohooohooohoooohoooooh' in knocked up louder than the 18000 people last week in berlin. thats all i have to say... maybe the kings are a tiny lil bit spoiled by UK fans. cause they seem to go pretty crazy during their shows. german crowds are just different and not only hardcore fans go to a show over here. thats why not each and everyone is going nuts when KOL enter the stage. but i did

I go away for a few days and this all happens! Sorry for those of you who were disappointed at this gig. Re the debate about throwing beer etc .... I remember the tail end of 'gobbing' at bands, beer was the least of it. Lucky for Caleb he doesn't have that to put up with. Throwing stuff at a band isn't right, but shit happens. I think Caleb should have had the integrity to not have put SOF on the album in the first place if he didn't like it - he's been embarrassed by it from the start. Maybe they'll stop playing it soon, they could if they wanted. I think Caleb being a shit bodes very well for the next album

I doubt if the record company would be best pleased if they dropped SOF from their sets!
