I've been super busy with work and I haven't really had the energies to log on from home but I've been reading a lot of the new threads and updates. I just wanted to say a couple things-
Montana, Katie, Ruth, Claire, Collete (am I missing anyone?)- I'm soooooo happy that you had such a good time at the Glasgow SECC gig! Your accoungs of it have been so awe-inspiring. One of my new life goals is to definitely go see the Kings overseas because it just sounds so much more awesome than here in the States!
To the guy who proposed to his GF during "Cold Desert"----AWWWWWWWWWWWW! so happy for you too!
To the person who told of a girl who said "What the fuck is this?" when the Kings played "Trani"--- I am appalled that someone would say that!!!! How dare they?! Don't they know the beauty that is Trani? And any other older KOL song?
To the rumor that the Kings have the fifth album started...WOW! This sounds awesome but I hope they do sit on it for a while because they are gonna be so burnt out after this crazy touring and stuff! I would much rather get an awesome album (not that OBTN wasn't awesome, but we all know the potential they have) by waiting a little bit.
Also! Did you guys hear? OBTN made Rolling Stone's top 100 albums of 2008 at number 20?! I think that's pretty sweet!
So excited about MSG!! Can't even explain! On the personal life side, I'm excited cause this is the first year Adam and I send out holiday cards, I'll post a copy here!! Also, haven't had a KOL-related dream in forever!! HELPP!!
Also wanna say hi to my peeps- you know who you are!
OMG I miss this place so much, I feel so out of the loop. But work has been super hectic. Boss is regulating our personal website usage a lot more closely than ever before! I miss my hours-long marathons of HA time!!
Love you all!

Laura! Good to hear from you! I hope things will slow down at work soon for you. Busy isn't always good. But it's normal, I guess, when you work. But not dreaming about the Kings = not a good thing. You have to come on more often to take in as much as you can which result in nice dreams . Good luck with sending out your very own (and Adam's) Christmas cards! I can imagine that's a cool thing to do for the first time, just you and your guy. Take care sweetie, and hopefully you'll be around more frequently! x

hi friends! i wanted to let you guys know about a little episode in my life the other day at work.
so, i answer the phone at work and it's for my co-worker, we'll call her Maria. she had a sore throat or something so she couldn't speak very well and asked me to tell the customer to email her instead. i told the customer who got really upset and started yelling at me, telling me he needed to speak with someone right away. i tried to calm him down and just told him the truth, Maria lost her voice and couldn't speak. please email her.
so the customer was happy and we hung up. then, i get this instant message from Maria. and it clearly was about me and was supposed to go to another one of our co-workers. the instant message said,
"can you believe what this retard just told the customer?"
i was shocked, i knew she was talking about me. and i was appalled because i don't think telling the customer the truth was a retarded move! this maria person is a very negative person. she talks about everyone behind their back, so i didn't expect anything better out of her. but it was shocking to see it in front of me.
so i emailed her and told her that i knew the message was about me and that i'm not upset because that's just how she is towards everyone. but that she should be more careful with those instant messages.
we patched it out but it was definitely awkward in the office.
when i told adam about it, he got mad and told me i should've told our manager so maria could get the punishment she deserves. but honestly, i think it was embarrassing for her and i have enough faith that she'll keep her shit-talking to a minimum after this...
what do you guys think?

Some people can be such assholes, you totally did the right thing, I have NO idea why she felt she needed to be such a bitch. You should have told the manager, that's true.

Limon to be honest i think you approached the situation very very well!
In terms of Adam's view, i think he is wrong, particularly because had you of told the manager, the situation would have escalated and this maria person would have gotten into a lot of shit for doing what she did. Had the situation been handled by a higher authority, she probably woulda been given a strike!
Also, this maria person would of most definately considered how much shit she would of been in had you of reported it to the manager - im sure the possibilities would have entered her mind! Since you handled the situation (and therefore prevented her getting into shit), i am sure she is appreciative and isn't going to pull that kind of thing again (perhaps she has a little respect for you?).
In the event that she ever tries to bring it up, tell her she should count her lucky stars you didn't tell the manager, cause who knows - if the manager has it in for her, maria would have been in deep shit.
Have some karma Limon! Love yaaa!! And dw about Adam - now this girl has to tread around you!! (unless she is an extra-super-uber bitch and has this plot to catch you out doing something wrong.. i kid i kid)

I think you handled it perfectly Laura. You shouldn't be the one feeling awkward - she should. And I hope she does!

Your thread in the fao section prompted me to go in search of old threads too Laura! So I'm bringing this one back - BECAUSE you never posted a picture of your and Adam's holiday card! BUSTED.

it's been over a year since this thread has been active but i decided to look it up and post a new development in my life and my love for KOL.
full disclaimer: i need a blog.
last night i went to see vampire weekend here in san diego. they completely blew me away. i don't even know most of their songs (lyrics-wise) and the lyrics i do know are kinda silly to me ... but their energy was just AMAZING.
and right then and there i made myself a promise. i can't go see the Kings of Leon anymore.
i've spent so much money on this band seeing them all over the country. it's been fun but i'm done. i want to save my money for shows like last night where the band's energy was palpable and magnetic.
and sadly, at recent KOL shows that hasn't been the case. i saw them 3 times this year and only once did i feel that.
i'm not saying KOL is the problem, i think i'm the problem here. i'm burnt out by them. i've seen them too many times because i've been trying to re-create that freshness from the first few shows. and the Kings can't live up to that and it's unfair for me to keep holding them to those standards.
but, like in any situation, the other party is partially to blame. the kings are a different band now than when they started. and tho they like to claim that their stiff demeanor on-stage is due to them being so professional and trying to play all their instruments as accurately as possible, it would be nice to see them ENJOY themselves more!
i wouldn't notice if they played a few chords wrong here and there if i was jumping around, dancing in the pit.
but, like i said- this is about me, my needs, my desires have changed when it comes to live music.
i'm breaking up with KOL.
who knows? maybe we'll get back together. and i'll definitely buy their new album. but this is it.
