my saturday was a very long day. I woke up at 10. showered, etc then walked to campus for the first [american] football game of the season! game started at 1:30. my roommate and i were just going to sit in the student section. but lo and behold, our friend (who was on the golf team and just graduated and is now playing pro golf so everyone wants to be his friend) is sitting with the son of Scotty Mayfield (ya know the milk?) and they happened to have 2 extra tickets so we got to sit in the club seats. the best part was that the tickets included 2 free beers. so we watched the 1st half of the game and at half time the score was like 48-0 (thank god it wasn't another Michigan repeat), so we decided to head on to the 2nd half of our day: the DMB and the Allman Brothers benefit concert in piedmont park! Since this was a green event, they wouldn't let anyone park ANYWHERE near the park so you had to walk. my golf friend had to stop and get his ticket from some multi-millionaires who apparently are his friends. of course they get to have there nice eco-unfriendly bus-osine parked like right next to the park. money makes me sick and the people with it complete assholes. so we get his ticket and proceed to the park and bake in the sun through the allman brothers and then at 8 it starts to cool down and Dave comes on. GREAT concert. rumor has it their next live concert will be from this show so thats exciting. Anyways, they stop at 11 and we get to walk home. So now everyone has to walk home, all 60,000 of us. i felt like i was in beauty and the beast when they are all marching through the streets with their flaming torches to the castle. except in the middle of atlanta. It was bizarre. We finally got home at 12:30. Yes, it took an hour and a half to walk home. hell. all in all it was a good day, very tiring but good.
and this is a novel, sorry.

ha! you had a cool day didn't you! that scene in beauty and the beast always scared me as a kid. and the allman brothers did a show here, one of the guys (the drummer I'm not sure?) was walking around the venue and my roommate and I were walking to the dining hall nearby, he flagged us down and asked if we were coming to the show and I was like "who are the fuck are the allman brothers?" (yes I know....I am an idiot) to which he laughed but was obviously a little bit offended. Anyway, today I became a vegan again (I make it sound like baptism, I am born again ) and I quit smoking...we'll see how long this lasts

our bodies aren't even meant to process meat. did you know that when elvis died during the examination of the body they found 20 lbs. of undigested beef in his stomach...ew... and Fast Food Nation is an appetite killer as well.

I've read The Jungle...yes very graphic, but a good read none the less. I was vegetarian for a few years too, but it was more of a cover up for more serious eating issues...I still try to avoid meat, but being from Wisconsin it's really easy to get meat raised on smaller family farms where the animals are cared for and slaughtered humanely on site...so I don't feel as bad as I would if I knew my meat was coming from those giant farms where animals never leave the barn and are shipped off to god knows where. Still, I rarely eat red meat because it scares me and feels too fleshy in my mouth...but I enjoy chicken to much too give it up.
