Although, this nice Arcade Fire fan may have a valid point:

To be fair, I'm happy to give him the benefit of the doubt on that score. I don't think he was necessarily criticising Arcade Fire themselves - rather bands trying to be like Arcade Fire. Bands who've managed to adopt bits and pieces of things that they've popularised by copying some of their throwaway gimmicks, without expanding on them or bringing anything substantial beyond the superficial visual showboatery. I don't think anybody would really argue that Richard is just in there to make up the numbers, like.

Whatevs, I will get over it (on the condition that you guys come to Regina ).

In the Spin interview, Nate mentions bands having people in it that bang their helmets with drumsticks. Arcade Fire have one of those, but he's also said he loves Arcade Fire, so it's probably taken out of context.

Nee I honestly don't think he meant a single word of that to be interpreted as some kind of criticism towards arcade fire. It really doesn't sound like that to me, I think he referred to them cause he's a fan and just talking about music with the journalist and someone in a hat running round banging themselves on the head is definitely something to talk about. Is it art? Is it music? What is this? He's probably frustrated he can't get away with doing the same, have you seen those footie pics? The last ones, after he scores? Somehow he reminded me of a monty python era john cleese! I can now definitely picture him with a colinder on his head half naked screaming 'i want to be an octopus!!'
