I'm with Dave, this is bollocks! How did Holy Roller win?? Should have been Trani, Joe's Head or Cali Waiting. Bah humbug!
I'm not playing any more of these stooopid games. Just as well we've no more albums to choose from.

I agree with all the sore losers. how is holy roller peoples' favourite off the WHOLE album. I'm baffled! what's the appeal?
and the good ones didn't even get very far they were gone in the first few rounds! so weird.

What's the appeal? it's so moooooooooooooooooooody! i love it, it's proper in a strop cause some fucker is being a fucker and deserves for their arse to get kicked. that's the appeal and they wrote a song kicking that fuckers arse............ and the clapping. and the religious vibe and the weirdness and the dum de dum dum de dum it. just. fucking. I think that's the way it will go when you do elimination votes rather than popularity votes. I know that the songs I consider faves lasted longer in the voting process, but if it was based on general popularity they probably would have gone quicker. I guess I'm saying it's a fun exercise (except for the pain of it!) but not necessarily indicative of true favourites. |

it's a fun exercise (except for the pain of it!) that just sums it up! it's a love hate thing. No you're never gonna get anything truly sensible or reflective of what everyone really thinks from elimination voting. Holy Roller is not my favourite, but Ill stand up for it for ALL the reasons Whiskers says. It's a song that makes me a bit in awe, and to tell the truth slightly uncomfortable, with Caleb's lyric writing ability. I don't know what role Nathan played, but I think he must have been influential cos of it's personal nature or what it's about and the timing of it. It tells me that at an early stage Caleb had big cojones, that's for sure. I've a large amount of respect. It's one of Caleb's best bits of story telling, for a start, and it's a vicious story when you think about it but couched in that bouncy balloon bass line and perky drumming and harmonies and bright guitars and clapping! Sliding through it all is a sleazy vocal exposing a sleazy fucker. Improbaby (very) sexy, and sinister like clowns. |
