They killed at the Weenie Roast tonight! Although it was a shorter than normal set, they packed in as many hits as possible (sorry, I don't have a set list) but stuck mostly to OBTN tunes (it was probably a good idea since the KROQ audience would only know them for SOF and Use Somebody, and are not likely to be familiar with the older material). "Be Somebody" sounded amazing, and Caleb sarcastically announced SOF by saying "You guys are going to f*cking hate this..." He also did some emoting in the end, kicking the mike stand over, then dropping to his knees to draw out the end of "Black Thumbnail", the set closer.
But the best thing about the entire evening was seeing a freshly clean-shaven Jared! (AT LAST)! and it seemed to magically transform him back to the old bass face-making, head-bangin' fun-lovin' Jared we all know and love...
It was SOOOO good to see them again (although it's only been since October '08 for me) and now I am so ecstatically happy to have my old Jared back...can't wait for Arizona next week!

Absolutely AMAZING show last night! Second best show of all the 7 shows I've been to so far, the L.A. Nokia show being the first. Notion, Black Thumbnail and Be Somebody were the highlights for me. It was good to see the old Jared again, he was really rockin' out, all of them were actually. Caleb was smiling throughout the performance and at the end, Matt jumped up onto Nathan's stage and Caleb was on his knees facing Nate's kit and they we all just rockin' out as hard as they could. You could definitely tell they were all having a good time. Hopefully they'll come back to the O.C. soon for a headlining show  *EDIT* How could I forget?! Me and Laura had crappy seats in the terrace section, but when Jimmy Eat World was on, we snuck down into the first row of the loge section. We had a perfect view, on Matt's side I love Laura's ambitiousness, if it wasn't for her I would have just stayed in my crappy seats. |

whew! just realized i haven't posted my thoughts on this show yet. honestly, they did so amazing that night!!!! i could feel the energy radiating around me and onto the stage and then back from the stage to us! this has been by far my favorite experience watching KOL at a festival setting. most of the time at festivals the crowd has been crappy but they truly turned it on for KOL on saturday night! of course, there were people who didn't know older songs but they would still rock out instead of look confused. i can't beleive how lucky i was to see them on saturday with stacy and then on tuesday with all the HA people! it sounds like they're having a great time on this leg of the tour and it makes me very happy to be a part of it! |
