might be going mad here, but i'm sure i've seen a live video of knocked up and everytime caleb sings 'buckled up on navy', the word 'buckled' is got rid of, like it's a naughty word or something.
anyone else know the live version i'm talking about? i was wondering why 'buckled' is a word deemed worthy of being bleeped out?

I've seen that too! In the Bucket I mean. I always thought it was because it's a thingy about suicide? I can't explain what I mean, but the censor people are crazy, and they don't like mentions of all kinds of crazy crap. I can't think of the other example I've seen too. But it's 'lyrically graphic' about suicide? Oh I don't know, I know what I mean.

Maybe the tv stations cant figure out what he's saying (cos they're not diehard fans like us ) and just assume he's saying something sinister so they censor it!! They should just come to us!!!!

thank god other people have noticed it, i thought i was going a bit kerazy.
also, not noticed the bucket bleep-outs, will go check that out!
censoring does my head in when it is uncalled for. 'drop it like it's hot' by snoop dogg has some silly censoring too, like the most non-threatening words are got rid of, pointless!

I bloody hate censorship. Or as The Ramones once said... Censorshit It's just DAFT. The one that sticks out for me is when you see Green Day's "Jesus Of Suburbia" on Kerrang! or some similar channel. It's not the language in that one that annoys me; there are a few "fucks" that get covered, but it's the imagery that's just pointlessly masked... The video has a hell of a lot of smoking, drinking and fighting, and that one scene near the end when he cuts himself. They cover up EVERYTHING, pixelating EVERY cigarette, every bottle of drink, there's even a shot where the guy's mum is exhaling smoke and they blur the WHOLE screen just because there's smoke. They think they're helping kids not to be exposed to bad stuff, but if a kid's sitting there watching a video that's full of pixelated stuff, surely they're gonna notice it even more than if it was seen! By slapping a massive obvious blur over the stuff, kids are gonna be like "what are they covering up?" and WANT to see. If you leave it there, they might just innocently ignore it like kids do. It really pisses me off. Also with language, they blank stupid words and leave in cuss words! Like My Chemical Romance get blanked for saying the words "smoke" and "gun", but The Offspring can say "dick" right out loud! *Explodes* Sorry folks, I'm ranting again... xxx

^^ haha, *applauds* i agree with all you said. especially the bit about pixelating stuff out, it totally just makes it a bigger deal than it would have been in the first place, i think most censoring actually creates taboos instead of trying to shield us from it. and in any case, as IF bleeping out a few words like 'gun' etc etcccc would ever minimise the violence and badness in the world. if you want violence, death and weaponry, all kid have to do is watch the news...hello!??

And do they censor the news? Of course not! It's a shame music's controlled in this way. It denies people's right to freedom of expression, really. That's the bad thing about music, you create something that's perfect in your eyes, and it gets churned through the system and by the time it gets out the other side where the rest of the world can see it, it's nothing like what it started off as... That's musical terrorism, I tell you! Not even terrorism... ERRORISM! *Vows to shut up* xxx

I really dont get why buggered would be bleeped out anyway. I know in australia at least it sure as hell isnt considered a swear word, atleast not seriously. About on level with damn.
Pfft. Censorship
Oh and buggered up on navy makes more sense to me than buckled, but yeah, if you've buggered something up it means you've stuffed something up. Therefore meaning smashed. If that makes any sense at all. lol.
