ok, like i promised, here's my review of their berlin show!
i travelled with my girlfriend and my sister to berlin for this show. before the show we were shopping around alexanderplatz and especially my girlfriend and me were looking for some people from the christopher street day parade! for some of you who might not know: it's a parade for homosexual people and since i have a girlfriend i kept that in my mind the whole day
whatever, so we had tickets for the seated area and we arived at the arena about 7 pm, so pretty much an hour before MEW started. i had massive headache caused from the weather and the long journey in our car and the long shopping day, so i was a lil pissed because i feared i couldn't enjoy the show as much as i wanted. my sister handed me a pill. but...um...what can i say? i felt a lil better until MEW entered the stage...i'm really sorry to say this especially since caleb said during their show that MEW were an awesome and inspiring band but i couldn't stand them! i was like
cause when the first started i felt my brain blowing away lol. i don't know if it was because i didn't know any of their songs before (i was a lil lazy and didn't check on them before on lastfm
) but all their songs were just loud annoying noises
some songs didn't sound that bad at some parts but i have to admit after 30 min or so, i put my fingers into my ears cause my headache became massive! to me it was just too much music, too many instruments at the same time
i think MEW played about 45 min. which is pretty long for a support act i think. i was so excited to see all the guys putting up the kings' equipment, looking for nacho of corse, but no baby father there
this one guy who always sits next to nathan during their shows played the drums for a min or so and it sounded sooo sooo cool! don't know his name though but it made me feel even more excited, i almost forgot my headache.
we had an awesome view on the stage and the crowd, it felt quite weird to 'share' kings of leon with so many people and i have to say 50% of the people i saw weren't 'my kind of people' to say it in calebs words. it felt weird
mh, whatever.
so when they finally turned off the lights i felt like i was going to die! i filmed the start and i was really surprised the opened up with 'notion' cause i was totally ready for crawl
. never mind. i was so surprised i actually forgot to stand up haha. but when be somebody started after notion i jumped up, almost everyone around us too and i didn't sing along, i SCREAMED along haha. i realised after the show i actually ruined some of our videos because of my aweful singing
so i already apologize for that (esp. the charmer video ahem...*blushes*)
the crowd was pretty lame in the beginning, only a few people in the front were jumping and dancing, i could hardly hear anyone else sing along during notion. i was pissed about that actually because i wanted KOL to have one of their best shows ever. so when they started with taper jean girl i was dancing as much as i could, i adore that song so much!!!! my throat felt sore after the third song, but i didn't care! i was totally in followill heaven haha
caleb wore that sexy shirt we already had on in cologne but he had another unbottened shirt over it and i was hoping that he would take it off but he didn't
nathan looked sexy as the devil himself in his sleeveless black v-neck (i'm not sure if it actually was a v-neck right now...). matts wore something dark, grey or blue or even black and a vest upon it i think, i couldn't see it that good. sorry to say but i didn't pay much attention to jared
i think he had a leather jacket on though. not sure.
when they played mollys, red morning light and california waiting i totally freaked out, calebs scream in red morning light was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO COOL!!! and so raaaaaw!! i screamed along like hell, haha
cali was so wonderful, first time i heard it live and it sounded soooo damn awesome! another highlight to me was milk, because it's simply one of their best songs and i love how they play it live esp. nathan drumming and the crushes before the instrumental part at the end of the song, its so wonderful! charmer was amazing! loving the pink light and the womans face on the screens and calebs shrieks and matts rocking out and jareds bass parts. i didn't know what to do with my hands so i was drumming along on my thighs and i felt like a freak sometimes because i knew exactly what extras nathan does in some songs lol
when sex on fire came on, i saw a girl in front of me sitting down, thought that was pretty cool, i could've kissed her for doning that haha. i couldn't sit down, i wouldn't have seen anything so i just stood there. i don't know why i just didn't sing along, i thought it was so weird, everybody suddenly freaking out and those stupid guys behind us finally got their fat asses up, arms still crossed. i took the time to watch all the other people in the crowd, it was really awkward. once caleb didn't even sing along the first part of the chorus because the crowd was so loud, he just stared. after the song he prepared for the bucket and as he wanted to start playing he looked into the crowd and suddenly everbody was screaming and shouting again because of sex on fire and caleb just stood there and looked totally gutted. i couldn'T help myself but give a huge applause to the band too. they're so awesome.
after sof a few people sat down again, i actually wanted to slap them right in the face
but i have to admit the crowd was really good after the first 3 songs or so. people sang along with the older songs as well, of corse not as loud as sof and use somebody, but i was satisfied. caleb said it was one of the best crowds in the last time, made my heart melt.
you could actually see how he became more and more drunken, haha. he said something like "y'know, on shows like this...i normally get really angry in the beginning. but then i drink some alcohol and it becomes one of the best shows of my life".
another highlight for me was caleb mentioning christopher street day parade haha. he said he had never seen so many lesbains and gay people before
the crowd was really responding to this statement and he was like 'uum...ok' as if he was scared there were some village people guys out there haha

his speach was so very heartwarming, i can't even remember what exactly he said, maybe someone recorded it (?) i was wondering who were the guys with the irish flag in the front row.
was that you angie??? . he thanked them for coming across half of the world to join the show. he's such a nice man.
the encore was amazing too! i finally got my black thumbnail live, it was soooo cool!!! i screamed my soul out lol. matt was totally into it and rocked as hard as he could, caleb too, got down on his knees in the end, nathan threw his head, his hair flying and jared pulled some well known spazz bass faces
i saw a huge nathan grin during taper jean girl too, because it was the first time the crowd was actually dancing and singing along (thats how i felt) matts hair looked so cute and i really enjoyed jareds faces on the screens. he still got it
i didn't expect them to play the devil song, but when i saw caleb talking to nathan really vividly and i thought 'maybe they're talking about playing the devil song now!' and just a few seconds after this thought nathan started this sexy drumbeat and they played a few seconds. i thought 'just keep on playing this amazing song, please please please' cause it acutally sounded like they were about to stop it again, but then they joined in again and caleb started mumbling 'aaain't gon sell my souuul to da devil'...whoah, that song is so so so so so so cool when you hear it live and not just in live recorded videos! awesome!
man, i'm writing as hell, i'm really sorry for that, it turned out to be a lil short story haha. anyways, here are my photos
