Hey hey hey, Im only getting to this now and im in some major tearful depression at the moment so this may turn out to be a soppy post....I have a feeling it'll be a bit long too
I'm not even sure where to start! Mesa, AZ is not exactly what I expected, theres not much to do and not too many nice restaurants etc but all the time I was there I was thinking "I can't believe I am going to see KOL in Arizona", u have no idea how many times I have heard Caleb mention Arizona & the desert etc and thought to myself "I must go there before I die" and there I was lounging around the pool in the scorching heat of Arizona with a bunch of crazy ass HA-ers
The nite before the show some lovely Americans from Utah checked in to the hotel and a few of the crew were chatting with them etc. they were going to the show and had their eyes on the barrier so it was kinda funny to be thinkin about how we'd gazump them (in a friendly way of course). At about 9am on day of show we all went to get our tickets and met Javier who told us to go back at 5pm when gates were opening but back at the hotel we realised they were giving out numbers to get into the show in order etc. needless to say we freaked out, jumped into taxis and made our way back to get numbers but they'd stopped giving them out. Freakout.com!!
Luckily Javier remembered us and after some difficult moments Bob, his boss, realised what had happened and let us up the front. The heat was phenomenal tho, never experienced anything like it!!
The Amphitheatre is beautiful and even more so when ur looking back from the barrier *snigger*. The Walkmen were brilliant, not what I expected but brilliant, ill be listening to them more fo sho.
Eventually Nacho came out to set things up and I horsed out the triangle that Tracy had bought me (cause I had been joking that Id bring one so they had no excuses for not playing Arizona ) I asked him if he needed it but he said he had one so I knew then it was a sure thing and I was happy, happy, happy!! As it happened they put it up but took it down again, I think there was technical difficulties or whatever so Matt didnt use it but I did whip out mine and was gonna play it but got nervous and didnt There was a security guard right in my Matt eyeline tho and even though I moved he was still bugging me Matt didnt seem in great mood in AZ mind you, but his execution of guitar skills was spot on as usual
I had my camera taken off me (as well as Ruth & Tracy) so no pics Im afraid!!
I must say Caleb was looking mighty mighty fine in his blue jeans, he seemed well into it and was really getting into playing up to the crowd etc which is great to see, I think he may be growing more and more into his front man persona I havent read it but I heard there was an article about him throwing a tantrum but that fucker obviously doesnt have a clue, he did throw something at Jared to get his attention cause the J-Man was off in a world of his own but he came back after he got the mic fixed and was smiling and messing with the crowd etc. so my dear Mr "Journalist", get ur fucking facts straight or shut your pie hole
As for Dave and Caleb, love was definately in the air there the lucky fecker
And its true, there is a mirror on the J-Mans amp and thats all Im saying about that
I am pretty sure Nate & Caleb enjoyed the show, I think Jared did too cause he was saying stuff to Nate and then Nate was saying it was "unbelievable" etc. Dunno bout Matt, think he was keeping the head down for whatever reason!!
Caleb gave us a shout out too and I very much appreciated that!
I have come home even more in love KOL than when I left here a week ago and I love them for recognising how much we love them
High Point: Arizona in Arizona at barrier! It doesnt get much better than that!!
Low Point: Hooters in Mesa. Dont go its shit
Wowsa thats a long post and even at that I think I forgot something
Edit: Ruth got Matts pick (a lovely used one ) and gave it to me, so thanks Ruth
