Well i cann see on my myspace that Caleb has read the msg i sent him about this song. He hasnt replied, but i dont mind, aslong as i got to say how i feel about this song |

i'm wondering whether caleb writes (doesn't nathan write too? i'm really really sure he does write quite a lot or at least used to!) more about his emotions than the subject. and didn't he say recently that he's started to write songs about stories he's just made up or been inspired by something that happened to smeone else or smthing he's seen? maybe he writes best when it's his story. and hasn't he just got over a massive personal issue, so perhaps he's become more wary of writing songs directly relating to himself. plus they're constantly experimenting so i guess there's question for whether his lyrics are less powerful and perhaps that's because it's a new style for him.
i think some of the earlier songs had been around for a lot longer than the latter songs anyway so it'd had longer to fester lol

I actually thought i heard Caleb say in an interview that this song was inspired by his father but was actually about himself.
He said that he didnt want to go down the same path as his father so it was a sort of wake up call to himself about his drinking and the way he was acting around that time.
I cant really remember which interview it was but i remember it was a radio one!!

thanks ticboo (sorry... i don't know your name!!) it was a truly awe inspiring time... just sitting down with my dad... like actually confronting him about it... i was like... 15... i think... i prouder of myself than i am of him!!  but it was honestly the best thing i have EVER done... i'm just glad that my friend got me into the kings when he did... *wipes forehead*... otherwise i would have been stuck for what to say!! |
