Is this song about anyone in particular?
i mean you know with things like 'pistol of fire' being about nathan and 'razz' about jared, i didn't know if caleb was speaking about anyone in particular with this song.
it has quickly become one of my faves. it's so sad but so so good.
"You’re so fucked up again You laugh at nothin’ in the pouring rain" * chill bumps*

^^ was that meant for me?? if so..thanks but you dont need to apologise Ive made my peace with it. and this thread made me message Caleb on myspace to tell him how much i admire him for writing this song, and how it makes me feel better knowing that im not the only one out there in that situation. He will probably think im a loser but i dont mind haha

I'm sorry to hear that too Katie, I'm glad you're ok with it though. X
I assumed that WC was about a slutty girl. It never even crossed my mind that it was about his dad. I really had no idea. :[

that documentary was fab. i have lots of video and interviews to catch up on. thanks for posting those link, karma! never knew the meaning behind holy roller novocaine. seriously, i loved all their songs before, but i'm falling even more for them now that i know the band's feelings and motivations behind them. Caleb one of the greatest lyricists ever? y/y? Kings of Leon some of the greatest song writers ever? y/y?

I think that the lyrics were much stronger back then, now they're a bit "I love you, I do, I promise, you mean a lot to me"

I hardly ever listen to it because it evokes too much emotion. But it's the song i can relate to the most. It's comforting to know that I'm not the only one though.

^ I have to say I do agree with Lizzy! I can't explain it properly but I'll try, I love the new stuff, not all of it as much as the old stuff, but I can't help feel that Caleb's lyric style has changed. Songs like Genius and Trani, they tell stories but it's lyrics that are quite original. Nowadays it's I guess a "watered down" version of what he would say if he had written these songs back then. Does that make any sense? :/
