Kings Of Leon set for Reading and Leeds United Kingdom United Kingdom | | 17 November 2008 Kings Of Leon have been lined up to headline the Reading and Leeds Festival, according to a source close to the band.
Organisers are believed to be talking to a number of potential headliners for next year's rock weekend, but the US rockers have emerged as a near certainty.
A trusted source told us: "Kings Of Leon are definitely playing. They last played Reading and Leeds in 2007, second on the bill, and really should have been headliners then. They blew (headliners) Razorlight away.
"They love playing UK festivals and are really keen to get back with the new album ('Only By The Night')."
If Kings Of Leon are booked to play they would almost certainly headline following their top billing at Glastonbury Festival earlier this year.
Other possible headliners being touted for the three-day August bash, which is split between sites at Reading and Leeds, include AC/DC, Green Day and Arctic Monkeys.
But organisers Festival Republic have refused to be drawn on individual acts, claiming none of the headliners have been 100 per cent booked.
A spokesman told Virtual Festivals: "‘At present no acts have been confirmed or contracted for Reading and Leeds Festival 2009 so any stories regarding the line-up are based on supposition rather than fact."
Other bands currently being rumoured to perform include Lost Prophets, MGMT, Klaxons and Pendulum.
Reading and Leeds Festival 2009 takes place at Little Johns Farm, Reading, and Bramham Park, Leeds, on 28-30 August.

That would be absolutely awesome! I really want to go to Leeds next year.
I wonder if they'll do any others with them being over here in June, because Leeds/Reading is in August isn't it?

Ooo I hope this is true. I will definitely be trying to get a Reading ticket then. Tried last year though and they went like hot cakes so I'm guessing it'll be exactly the same next year with KOL there!

I think they will because think about it: They've just gotten countless new fans off the new record and from their point of view they're gonna want to real in those fans while they're fresh and in the height of popularity. It would be stupid not to really. Plus theres that thing about financial gain dont ya know

to be fair, it's pretty obvious I'd say they're gonna play Reading and Leeds, they didn't play last year and they've not headlined, so surely now it's time? i'm so excited

There was a sale of 'early bird' tickets a few months ago, but regular tickets won't go on sale until early next year.

It's usually March I think. A couple of days after the line-up is announced.
