I'm going to the philly show this saturday (november 15th), and I'm not entirely sure what to expect, so I have a few questions:
1. How many hours before the gates open do i have to show up if i want to be front row? ( Electric Factory is GA for those who don't know) 2.What kind of posters are available? Do they have city specific silk screens, traditional tour posters, or nothing at all, and how much do they cost? 3. How much are T-shirts? Thanks in advance, Will

I'm going too on Saturday! I was just at the one in Detroit on Saturday also, so I can answer a few. 1. I went 3 and a half hours early and was second in the line, but if you go that early bring a coat or warm clothes because I just wore a hoodie and it was soooo cold! And yes I forgot to say we were front row almost center 2. Have no Idea 3. The t-shirt I bought was $30, most of them are 30 but there was hoodies and stuff that cost lots more. Hope I could help a little!

Thank you very much, and you didn't notice any posters on sale when you went to but a t-shirt?

I was actually rushing so I saw what I wanted and got it. Because the line was so long and I wanted to get to the buses. If you get a chance after the show you should definitely go out by the buses because there is a BIG chance they will come out and sign stuff, they did on Saturday and I so will be waiting there again

does anyone know how i would get to the venue from the 30th street train station? (or market east, if that's easier)

From Market East I think that's 14th and market. I would take a cab to 7th and Willow (off the vine) and that'll drop you off right at the electric factory. I honestly wouldn't walk around in that neighborhood. The cab shouldn't be more than $10. If you don't want to take the cab, you can walk 7 blocks up (west) to 7th and market, make a left and walk north to willow (4 blocks I think) but Vine is a bitch to cross. Which show are you going to?

The last time I went to The Electric Factory was for Editors sold out gig last Feb. Like someone else said it's a pretty dicey area, especially at night. For anyone driving, the best parking is the gated lot right in front of the venue. Costs about $8 for the night, and you don't have to walk the 5-6 blocks from the "Concert Parking' lots to the venue. As for lining up early, I wouldn't get there earlier than 1.5 hrs before the doors open. Sorry, but 3.5 hours seems a bit obsessive to me. Especially if it's a cold night. And be prepared for some serious search & seisure by the security guards before you go in, which takes a lot of time. Folks in Philly don't mess around when it comes to checking for anything that's not allowed in. When you finally get inside, the best place to see the show (unless you're right at the barrier) is up in the balcony. It wraps around 3 sides of the venue and you can get a great view of the stage. If I remember right, it's also the only part of the venue where you can carry drinks. Don't think they were allowed on the floor. So for lots of reasons, the balcony can't be beat. And The Electric Factory is famous for having not so great acoustics, so be prepared. I'd bring ear plugs. One last thing about the tour buses. Pretty sure they park in a gated lot somewhere behind the venue that's impossible to get to. At least that was our experience last Feb. Drove around every back alley in the area and never found Editors' tour bus.

Yeah, the balcony is definitely the best place to see the show if you can get up there!! You have to be 21 so keep that in mind, because there's a bar up there.
And getting searched wasn't a long process at all, there was just a short line there? But maybe I came a little later than Ishould have.
All in all Electric Factory is a great place to see a show in my opinion, not sure about the acoustics, but they sounded fine all the times I've been there!
