I just googled it and found this - Re: La Riviera Club, Kings Of Leon Posted: Sun December 21, 2008 10:32 AM UTC As I understand it, one club in Madrid had a bad incident in November. A teenager was allegedly set upon by 3 bouncers and died. As a result and following all the furore & publicity, the Madrid authorities decided to close other clubs. In the case of Riviera they used the excuse that there was some infringement of a technical nature apparently. It seems to me that Riviera may be in action during 2009 and its best to keep checking about the band's decision etc. Some of the clubs closed after November have reopened already. and read the venue web site: www.salariviera.com/

Yeah I've seen that message too, but if there are any people who live in Madrid, maybe they will tell us more about it. A guy was supposed to play there on the 9 and 10th january, but they moved them to another venue (15000 capacity) on the 16th. I hope they won't do the same for KOL :/ And now all the European dates are sold out, I can't even go to another show instead. Ahhh it sucks !!

Ah is that what it said on the main site about 16th January? My Spanish is pretty rusty now it seems. 15000?! That's not very intimate. Aren't you coming to Paris?

Yeah, I used google translate, I can't speak a word of spanish haha
And yeah I'm going to Paris but I wanted to do 2 dates on this tour. But let's hope it will be allright !! Apparently it should be open by then. They are making renovations (?), but nothing is sure yet.

Apparently it should be open by then. They are making renovations (?), but nothing is sure yet. Who knows... this is Spain. Everything goes reeeeeeally slowly. The problem they have is that La Riviera has not a licence for concerts (it's also used as a disco); and as long as they don't get a proper one it will keep closed. You could expect two things to happen: 1. The venue is changed (La Riviera has about 2.500 people capacity) to a bigger place like the bullfighting arena Vistalegre (La Riviera is the only venue in Madrid of that capacity). 2. It is cancelled (or delated) and the money refund. Anyway, if finally the concert takes place in La Riviera, stay way from the palm trees

Thanks for the info ! So I guess I will have to book my flights anyway, and if it gets cancelled, at least I will use the refund money to get wasted pfff

yeah me too, i was excited to see them at last in a small venue... ¬¬
although i think it will be quite empty, i think this venue is too big for them, 'cos until now they have sold 2500 tickets... it's unlikely they sell more than 10000 tickets in less than four weeks

Yeah, we were just talking about that with my friend. I think they will maybe sell 1500-2000 more (and it still seems like a lot to me). Maybe they have different configurations for the venue ? Maybe they can make it look like it's smaller (they did that the last time they went to Paris).

i don't think it has many configurations possibles... cos it is like a bullring (but it doesn't use for it, actually is used as sport hall, where real madrid team of basketball plays every week)
