Lately I've been on this huge kick with hollowing out old (or just really crappy) books and making collages inside of them. These are the first 3 I've done so far: Oh wow the last one is my favorite!

Roberta that painting is BEAUTIFUL! And I love those books Monet (right?) I would love to display something like that in my room. I didn't know where else to ask but what do you creative people think would be good material to make a necklace pendant of the Andy Warhol Velvet Underground banana (my avatar) out of?

Any kind of plastic, as long as you're willing to shape and buff it...or go for black and yellow felt, which is probably easier. I have to do the first part of my GCSE Art exam on the 26th The good thing is, I'm doing a question about Machines and Technology, based on Eduardo Paolozzi's collages, and I promise you now, even if it looks random and I get an E or something, there will be a picture of KOL somewhere! I may even get a little pic of Nacho hiding behind some wires Little smile peeking out xD

thanks for the comments on the painting, its those comments which makes me still carry on doing them I love the books Monet, the time its taken alone to hollow those out, i tried making a secret compartment when i was about 11 in a book but it took soo long to do the first couple of pages i gave up! Is shrink plastic like that magic plastic stuff?? Other than that you could just use that clay stuff which sets in the sunlight...?

Will do I'm trying to organise this at the moment, I have 72 pictures I want to use, I've narrowed it down to one live photo of KOL so I can say "yeah...that one's about live music and how that's changed due to technology... " I have literally ruined almost every electrical device in my house as well, I don't even know what this is going to look like at the moment, it's just wiring, bits of phones, loads of pictures relating to machines and cultural icons, quotes from 1984 and Willy Mason...xD

Please let me know what you think of this:
"I dreamt of a day crossing tame rivers in Paris then wandering into a peaceful bar. I was encouraged not to drink but rather to indulge in a most foreign activity. Intrigued, I closed my eyes, and, as instructed, placed my head to a panel of wood, inducing a most unexpected reaction. My head spun, with the colours flowing in and out and the stars shining wildly. I had arrived in another place in time where the troubles of today were yesterday and tomorrow all at once. They had not even been born. I was where I belonged and that feeling glazed my soul, evoking a pure and glorious happiness. If but only transient.
I was back in the bar, with my present woes and my new, brief memories, eager for more vacations to the unknown."

I like it a lot! Was it written in stream-of-conscious? It seems very much in that kind of style.

What happened was I had that dream last night. And this morning I woke up thinking WTF was that dream all about lol. Totally forgot about it then somehow recalled it about half an hour ago and decided to write it down, as best as I could remember. It really inspired me!! I've been wanting to get into writing for a while, I feel this may help and thanks man!

A dream? Nice - if your dreams are as cool as that you should really keep a journal of them or something.
Are you familiar with the Beat Generation writers? If you had told me that you pulled this out of a Jack Kerouc or Allen Ginsberg writing, I wouldn't have been suprised (that's a HUGE compliment by the way).

I recently finished On The Road and I loved it very much, its definitely one of my all time faves. I'm gonna get myself a few more Kerouac's asap and I fancy some Ginsberg as well. I read somewhere that On The Road was semi-autobiographical and that Moriarty was based on Ginsberg, is that true? Thank you very much though man, thats an amazing compliment, much appreciated!

Carlo Marx was based on Ginsberg! Deam Moriarty was based on Neal Cassady. And no problem at all, thank you for sharing it
