I love it. It's their 'sit back, relax and have a beer' album - perfect for late night listening when you've had a few too many. In any case, these guys are so damn prolific they can afford to experiment like this, cause the chances are the next record will probably be completely different. ENJOY IT FOR WHAT IT IS, INSTEAD OF FOCUSING ON WHAT IT ISN'T. Well said, facepollution. Karma comin' your way. I just got the 2-disc version of Only By the Night today and am lovin' it. It came with a second disc which has 7 live songs from the Hammersmith Apollo show from April of 2007. I got the last one, so was totally stoked about that!!!

I'm very jealous that you got the extra live disc! Was that from Target? Over here in the UK I think we just get the bog-standard edition (I ordered the US version with free 7" from Newbury Comics). I'll have to look out for the live songs somewhere online.

Yep, it's from Target. I initially went to Borders to buy the CD, but it was way overpriced, so went next door to Target and found my KOL treasure!! I adore the Hammersmith Apollo version and have watched those vids many times on youtube.

At first I was hesitant, but once I really had a good listen and gave it a go, I absolutely love it. The album declines a bit after Manhattan but it's still pretty damn good. I like that their experimenting with new stuff.
Some bitch though compared the album to a three doors down album, I was like :-O.

I'll admit it, I listened to the leak of the album online..and I was a bit bored at first. But after listening to it a few times over, I started liking it more and more!! Starting to LOVE it now actually I pre-ordered a copy, which I have yet to receive and today I went out and bought another copy! I'm use to the more upbeat Kings, but I like the fact that this album is completely different from their previous ones...more mellow. My favorites, right now, are; Revelry, I Want You and Closer.

I fucking love it. I'm just focusing what is IS, and that's what's so cool about the album. It looks like it's a bit corny, but when you listen to it more and more focused it's freakin' awesome

I'm hoping it's a grower. Some songs are amazing, but some I'm just not too sure about.

64 votes for the LOVE IT. that's a good sign, I also think it's a grower, but just some songs like 17 that would 've never been on BOTT I think..

so i was walking past this club in the more "dance" orientated clubs of the city and they were pumping out the worst remix of sex on fire id ever heard it didnt even contain the verse just the chorus before really bad synth crap replacing the verses. made me cringe. what made me cringe even more was all the drunk people singing along. last place id expect to hear a kings of leon song. last place id want to hear a kings of leon song butchered.
