It seems to be a bit of a marmite song (love it or hate it!) I love it, but its not my favourite track on OBTN.

personally, a song that "has to grow on me!"
is code for
it isnt very good.
you think "king of the rodeo" had to grow on me?!?!
not one single song they've ever written has ever had to "grow on me" because they were just obviously GOOD from the get go.
this album is the biggest disappointment of my entire life. right after i played it through the first time i got tears in my eyes cause i realized that the kings of leon are just changed into "a more mature sounding band who are sick of thinking with their dicks and now wanna try speaking from their hearts!"
code for
this album tried and failed.
kings of leon- please make a 5th album and TAKE YOUR TIME!!!! PLEASE!!!
Sincerely, Someone who's about to get smited like there's no tomorrow.
btw - save the christmas bells for a Happy Holiday's album by Regis Philbin.

I agree, Frontier City would have been amazing on OBTN. I do like 17 but I think compared to Frontier City, it should definitely be a B-side

17 is a downright terrible song
It sounds like the corniest rock-and-roll Christmas you've ever seen
A song called 17 written by caleb followill that has nothing to do with sex. PARDON ME?
this is so wrong...

Ya I was thinking about this after my last post and I remembered trani, o dusty, trunk and crawl had to grow on me and I love em all now and I reckon they're all good!!
Maybe I just have to accept that I possibly dont like one KOL song, thats not bad given four album and a handful of amazing b-sides!!

Its ok. I'll sit on the fence. But i still can't shift the image of Justin Hawkins sitting singing his Xmas song when the song opens up. Which has to be wrong in everyway. I'm not saying its Rubbish at all, just the poorest on the Album.
Just my opinion! I'm glad some folks love it! Also i' sometimes like marmite and sometimes not. So i'm a freak really. So infact my opinion means nothing and please ignore me

It sounds like the corniest rock-and-roll Christmas you've ever seen .. Sad but true. But also off-topic, people shouldn't be smited because they have a different opinion of a song, otherwise what would be the point of discussing the album?

i think its cool for them to keep tryin' new things, and the bells i thought were yes, christmas-y, but i thought it was cool to think outside of the "norm"...
but hey! its whatever ya'll, i mean i'd like to have a thread about why the hell beneath the surface was a) not on the album b) not even available to americans oh and frontier city shoulda also been a reg. cut.
but hey...its cool though...the album is still constantly in my tape player. sorry to get off topic...

I think 17 is the worst song on this cd. It seems that songs that are big overseas aren't as well liked in the USA. I never liked Milk or My Party either. To each their own.

the bells at the end are quite melancholic i find, makes the song. at the start it's a bit weird to get used to granted, but the song overall i really like!
