I live in the US. I'll be seeing them at a small club in DC and Baltimore. If I get there when the doors open, I'm guaranteed first row.

thank you for your response eddy! by 'reward' i meant have faith in those fans are who are really dedicated to them and want to go see them reallllly badly, especially those who havent had the chance to experience them at a more low key venue. i mentioned the ticket thing because you said you hadnt had the chance to see them before because you didnt get tickets in time and seeing as you thought i considered myself better than you, i wanted to point out that its not as if im getting tickets for free or through a friend of a friend sorta thing where i can take advantage and no, i dont deem it shitty to go with my parents. i am also 17 and dont need to go with them and despite my dads air guitarring throughout im still not embarassed to be with him at all and i wasnt saying it was shitty of them to announce a big tour, again i was merely expressing my feelings in response to them having done so. all i am saying is that my 100%, whole hearted, borderline obsessiveness with kings of leon has diminshed slightly as a result of them announcing the big tour dates. yes, its cool that theyve got new fans but im just worried they may take it for granted. they're fine now, but if it wasnt for the die hard fan base that formed when they first started, the chances are, they wouldnt be where they are now. it is, after all, the huge amounts of money lots of the fans have paid to see them and buy their stuff that would have encouraged their label to give them a big enough advance to go record somewhere like blackbird studios i think my dad summed it up pretty accurately as to how i was feeling: "its almost as if they were little kids when you first heard them and youve nurtured them until they're teenagers, and like most teenagers, they're telling you to fuck off to your face, its a little disappointing" your thoughts? I totally agree!

I'd only properly seen the performance this weekend and its just what i thought after seeing it,I love the band and will for a long time but i was just a bit dissapointed after watching it on T.V i felt that they could have gave a bit more (apart from Matty he was amazing!). I'm hoping for good things at the december tour!

I live in the US. I'll be seeing them at a small club in DC and Baltimore. If I get there when the doors open, I'm guaranteed first row. Backtrack...they're playing in the DC/Baltimore area? When? But back on topic... No matter what any band tells you, they want to be successful. You have to understand that, first and foremost. I expect a band to want to progress instead of just going back to something that's familiar and comfortable just because it's familiar and comfortable. Take a look at U2 (my fav band of all time...that's right I said it). They went from small New Wave, to nearly Atmospheric, to The Joshua Tree, and did a 180 and did Achtung Baby and still remained successful throughout this 10 yr. period. They still had that U2-sound, but you could tell the band was always changing, always onto something bigger and better. It takes bands who want to succeed to actually have the balls to try something new. Why anyone would want to hold bands back is beyond me, but I like change. I'd get so bored of the Kings if they kept playing the same old crap all the time. I like the old stuff cuz it's why I'm here posting this thing right now, but they have so much more potential. Sure, a new sound and style may not work, but at least they were ballsy enough to give it a try. This shouldn't be a "sad day for KOL". As fans, we should be supporting them, not turning our backs on them because they want to try somethin' new. If all you want is to reminisce, then you need to hop off the train now cuz it's moving forward, not backward. I just can't help but give my two cents (which is probably more than that) on issues like this cuz it's something that has been annoying (maybe not the right word, but oh well) me for several years now.

yeah... it could be disappointing to some... but i've liked kol for such a long time that i can only be happy for them! i just hope they continue making awesome music and not change their sound/personalities/personas unless they want to! they are still really cool in my book.... and i know it sucks that some people just start to like them for their famous songs like "on call" or their leather jackets.... but at least they have enough fans to keep playing! just look at the bright side... even if u may be disappointed that some may follow the trend when choosing to like kol....

No, I'm just saying that in the US you can still easily see them at a small club. They haven't posted any dates yet. It was like that with BOTT too. I kept waiting and waiting for US tour dates near me and then finally they added a bunch, including DC and Bmore.

Trust me, everyone still hasn't caught on. What disturbs me is people who don't know how to stick with a band, no matter what. So what if they are playing large arenas? Maybe it's just me, but as long as they are playing period people should be happy. Because there will be a time when they no longer want to do this and all I'm going to be hearing is "Man...no more Kings..." I stick with my bands through thick and thin. If they are reaching a large audience now, good for them. That will never diminish my appreciation for what they do. "Fans" who let things like that bother them, were never really fans to begin with. At least you've gotten to see them. Some of us haven't been so lucky. Don't take what I'm saying personal, but some people on here complain so much that it's kinda sickening to a degree. No one is ever satisfied, always worrying about them "selling out". *KARMA*Well said! I agree with you 100% and couldn't have said it better myself.
People have got to understand, no one stays the same. Their growing up and going through different things all the time, so naturally their writing/sound is going to change with them. Personally I love the fact that they are changing with each record, I love hearing what new things they come up with.
**please, no one take this personal...I understand we all have our own opinions.**

SOULKITCHEN- I respect you for your opinion but I also live in the States and can't complain about venue size. 3 out of the 5 times I've seen them live I've been front row. I have no complaints.
GROUPIELOVE (ROSEY)- "KOL depression?!" That had me LOL-ing cause I sorta went through the same thing. I think their off time was tough on us fans. Karma for making me giggle...
I'm glad that we can have these types of discussions on here. Sometimes I worry that all we ever do is praise the guys and it's good that we're not scared to bring up the down-sides of being KOL fans.
Mostly I agree with JigglyTuffy. This thread should not be called "sad day for KOL." We can't be sad when our band is experiencing the success they deserve...

In december kol are playing in the SECC which is a huge venue, but then again they are only playing in the small hall and not in the mega huge one, so I don't care.
