I was just wondering, we all know that Nathan, Caleb and Jared's father was a preacher, but what about Matthew's family?
Was his father also a preacher? Where the hell did he come from?

tis a good question, that
and one i don't have the answer for
this doesnt really answer your question...but ive only just read this lol...
As for Matthew, he'd at least had a brief flirtation with the guitar before giving it up at 14. So when he got the call from his cousins, he opted to ditch his grade 11 classes, run away from home and relearn his licks.
The results were inevitably rough. "It was really quick," Matthew recalls. "I had to learn five songs in two weeks. And then the head guys from RCA are sitting in our garage ... Caleb breaks a string and it takes him 30 minutes to change the string because nobody really knows how

Let's see.... This is what I know about Matthew's background: - Born in OKC
- Raised mostly in Mississippi by his mother (don't know about a step-father)
- His father wasn't a preacher
- He's the same religion as his cousins
- Went to a private religious school (in Mississippi! I can't believe he can read and write!)
- Took guitar lessons from a schoolteacher
EDIT: It should be noted that the guitar lessons he received weren't from a pro, I believe. It was just a teacher who gave lessons on the side.

just to answer your questions... no, Mathews dad is not a preacher. Never has been. He's my uncle and his step-mom is my aunt. I actually ate dinner with them today I'm not sure where Matthew lived the whole time but I remember he was at my grandma's house a few times playing guitar for us several years ago so he spent at least some time in Oklahoma.

Fuck you and learn to read. you didnt directly. you made an assumption that all people from MS are illiterate. thats a bigoted and ignorent comment. thats all im saying. i think a "fuck you" might have been a bit unnecessary. i was joking anyway. you chicks need to relax.

I was not making an assumption that all people from Mississippi are illiterate. I was berating their poor education system; that was commentary on the state's economical problems. I think "hick" is a rude, ignorant word. I'm angry that you're accusing me of calling Matthew one and I'm very angry that you're implying I'm one. I stick by my "fuck you."

Boo.
We all had to do our research and be honest. I would have found an adventure story more satisfying, something along the lines of: Followill the preacher abducts (brother's? sister's? Who does this kid belong to?) ____'s son and takes him on a Holy Tour around the country.
God times.
That was a typo. But, it makes sense. Good Godly times.
