they really were so original before this new indie album. Probably one of the most original band of the decade. But of course, to give in to the horrible rising indie sound, the band sold out. They are even wearing those foolish suits interpol started years ago
WHY!! oh why?

I guess they have just evolved in regards to both their sound and their look. They were all so young when they started out, am sure that we all have different ideas now to what we did five years ago.

I think it's clear from their b-side "My Third House" that they've not forgotten who they are, even if they have moved on a bit. I don't think we've seen the last of the old KoL we know and love.

BOTT is certainly different and it takes a bit of getting used to but I soon realised that it's still KoL and its still phenomenal. Besides, we still have the other albums but now we have even more of a variety to choose from of the world's best.

I really hate condemning discussions on what's supposed to be a fansite. yeah, so you might not feel it's as good as the rest, but i'd never say that they've "sold out". wouldn't you like a band you've supported from the beginning to be successful, and is it truly wrong that the people who didn't get them in the first place have been converted by their new album?

No - they've always deserved to be huge and that includes this album. Now us long-time fans can have the smug pleasure of knowing we were right all along!

its not called selling out its called growning and evolving your music so that every album doesent sound the same its called sharpening up your sound and getting it to sound the way you like it although my mum did make this statement today: 'what worries me about this album is that you can actually hear almost every word they are saying, thats not ver kings of leon-ish is it!?'

Lol that was one of the first things that struck me about bott funnily enough. Still, it's not a bad thing, it means his lyrics can be more appreciated.

Indie and selling out are fundamentally contradictory. So the original poster has no validity to their argument.

I do not really post on the board. I just come here to read other posts, but I just could not stay quiet about this.
I HATE when people are saying that KOL sold out because of BOTT. I mean, I think that it's BS.
When I listen to their new album I can totally see the elements of why I fell in love with this band in the first place. When you get to the core of it , they are still the SAME BAND. Not only do I think that these are their best lyrics yet, I also happen to think that the music is absolutely enthralling and capivating.
I have been listening to this album on a loop nonstop since the first day it came out. I listen to every single song and do not skip one. How many albums do you know nowadays where you can say that? Not many. Usually there are just a couple good songs and the rest of them all just sound the same.
Bands nowadays are just too scared to experiment. They forsake their creativity and originality to be "accepted" and to appeal to the mass market and target audience. KOL fans are just a really diverse group of people and I have not met a KOL fan that I did not like.
That's why KOL is not that famous in the US cause they are not like all the other cookie cutter manufactured bands out there.
So, when you say they sold out, then you were not a true fan in the first place because I just don't understand how people can say that. They are evolving. If they came out with a ASHB TWO, everyone would be saying the same shit. I for one will be with them till the end cause I have faith in my boys and trust whatever they do.
I say kudos to KOL and I just know they are going to be getting better and better. Their new album is so much more mature.
Sorry it's so long, but I have been meaning to say this for a long time. I am a musician as well so I can really relate to things like this.

Indie and selling out are fundamentally contradictory. So the original poster has no validity to their argument. Not really, the whole indie thing has become ridiculously commercial and average because of bands like The Fratellis. But i don't think they've sold out at all, Calebs singing voice alone sets them apart from other bands. They've always been very successful in the UK, just because they make great music, not because they're trying to make money

Listen to the music, if you dig it go with it and if you don't just leave it, you ask youserlf too many questions, it's rock and roll for fuck's sake, what you care what they wear? LISTEN to them, and if you don't like what you hear, you can just stop listening.
