After fighting within the band and disagreements over the direction of the latest album, Kings Of Leon have decided it's time to go their seperate ways.
The four peice from Nashville, Tennessee, who have been described by many critics as the best band of 2007 and the hottest young artists on the planet, rose to fame with hits such as "Molly's Chamber", "On Call" and "Fans".
BBC Music understands that there is no bitterness between them and that it was a natural progression. Lead singer Caleb Followill would only reveal in a short interview with Zane Lowe that "it's not been right for a while, my older brother Nathan is settling down and getting married to his fiance and my younger brother Jared is engaged now aswell. We can't carry on as we were as things have changed so much and we decided it was time to call it a day".
Caleb also went on to reveal that he plans to stay in music and will probably continue working with his good friends, producer and writers Ethan Johns and Angelo Petraglia. Bassist Jared is also said to be very keen to move into production and there is talk of an independant label being formed.
It comes as a shock to the music industry after 2007 was such a successful year for the band and they apparantly had the world at their feet.
