not sure if this has been mentioned on here before, but I know loads of magazines compare them....and as soon as my dad heard KOL he said they sound like CCR...
what does everyone else think?
i reckon there are some similarites, I think the little riffs in songs like Spiral Staircase you can imagine John Fogerty playing...also in My Third House there are some strange some noises and theres the same in a CCR song at the beginnin - Poorboy Shuffle I think it was...and kols old image was pretty similar to that of creedence....also, try and find the creedence poster of them at the royal albert hall....the layouts just like the YAYM front cover
anyway, can't be a bad thing, CCR were genius!

Of Course!
The first album was like a punk mixture of CCR, Rolling Stones and the Velvet Underground.

CCR and Kings of Leon have that whole down south rock, rock, rock 'n roll type thing going on. CCR are the only band I can think of right now (besides Ram Jam and their infamous Black Betty) that were famous for their swamp rock jive going on: strong basslines that move the music; wild, distorted rhythm guitar; "virtuoso" guitar solos, etc.
ONE thing I have noticed though, is that Nathan has (although repetitive/similar to their other songs) a very distinctive drumming style. It's very loud, rhythmic, etc, but doesn't overshadow the other instruments.
Yay!

Yeah heaps on Youth And Young Manhood eh.
Not so much on A-Ha Shake and Because Of The Times obviously.
I love CCR, they're fucken awesome. It was always kinda sad to read interviews circa 2003, when the interviewer would bring up CCR, and they'd get upset by it, like all like, fuck southern rock and shit. But CCR are so awesome, I don't see why they found it that offensive.. I mean understand the not wanting to be pigeon-holed as a 'southern rock band' blah blah.
It's all irrelevant now anyway. word.

they're defo rockin a southern style and CCR helped shape it. dont think they sound like CCR but you can hear the influence if that makes sense. all and all, you could do a lot worse then gettin compaired to CCR.

John Fogerty singin about being born on the bayou and the like....he was from San Fransisco wasn't he? From the East Bay, El Cerrito. I hear the CCR influence, too. No one plays straight rock music like this anymore. The Kings of Leon stuff sounds so good. Real raw and from the heart, like CCR.

I've been saying that for years. My girlfriend said I was crazy. I think the Kings should cover Commotion. It would fit them to a tee.
