Yeah, this has bugged me since I first read it too. When I read the lyrics I was like, that must be a typo. It sounds really weird, but that does seem to be the lyric. Strange.

Saying "Whilst" is like saying "while" and "a" is like saying "I," they say it alot down south. I believe the lyric literally means, "either way, you caught me while i was lying," even though he said it in a different way.

That's just my interpretation, sorry if it's wrong
