Camero is f**king awesome and i like black thumbnail. Most of the rest of the album is trash, especially charmer and my party...my party sounds like lcd soundsystem took a rock song, used a few lines from the verse and then looped one line of the chorus over and over....cheap song. No way near as fresh as Y&YMH (in today’s glut of modern rock music), sounds pretty generic in area similar to U2, bloc party and the strokes. Caleb’s vocals are more grating in this album too as everything’s too clean sounding and polished, i prefer his rougher smokier voice from Y&YMH. No I’m not ignorant, i just expect better from kings of leon. If this wasn't a kings of leon album i wouldn't be so disappointed with this change of sound and would just listen to the couple of good songs on it.

I am enjoying the new album, it is certainly different from the previous albums! I have my presale order on Amazon already too. I have loved Charmer since I heard them play it last year, Caleb's voice is so cool! Fans is an awesome song too!! Does anyone else feel that Trunk is one of those songs that won't be played live like Day Old Blues??

The more I listen to it the better it gets - and that's after six weeks. Been good to buy it today though and read the lyrics and listen to it in CD quality.

did any read Q Magazine this week.....i wasnt too impressed with some of the stuff they were saying e.g. kings of leon always have one stinker on their albums (see dusty, day old blues) and they were talkin about charmer on BOTT
i thought dusty and day old blues were quality!
i think the people hoo write these reviews are only into the fast songs etc

I really like this record, only listened to it twice and i can see myself liking it more with each listen. My favourite new song is Fans, i think its quality.
I really like Caleb's vocals too, getting better and better.

Haha, yeah, and guitar  I like the new album, but I do prefer the other two still, up to now. But that doesn't mean I won't get used to this even more. I think it's strange opening with Knocked Up, but it's a great song, so they pull it off well. I think Charmer is excellent, the screams are awesome. On Call starts terribly, but gradually gets a lot better and is a good opening single. McFearless is a brilliant song, and grows a lot. The lyrics are brilliant too. Black thumbnail is amazing, very bluesy and rock 'n' roll. My Party is another real grower for me, as I started off with reservations about it. True Love Way is another brilliant lyrical song. Ragoo, is great, I think the effects are a little heavy for me, but it's a brilliant song. 3.36 minutes of Fans is geniusI think The Runner is a quite personal song for all of the Kings and is a very touching song. I think Trunk is a little weak, with quite repetitive lyrics. Camaro, I feel, is also a little weak, as it's a bit too basic for me. Finally, Arizona, and an excellent end to the album, also very personal and beautiful. I was hoping for another bonus track too, but that's me being a gready fuck. Overall, in my opinion, and that is all people are giving here, opinions, I feel the album is very good, if not a little over produced in places. |
