Black Thumbnail is going to be so good live
its the stand out track for me at the moment
kalebs singing is not as up front as on ASH
some of the drumming on this new album is excellent

I like how they say "happy alone" a bunch of times in True Love Way

I really like some songs but not so much others. also, in knocked up, it's all great except that unexpected heavy bit. the chorus i think it's meant to be. that bit is horrible. other songs like my party, fans, rago and the runner are great. arizona is nice
overall I'm quite disapointed to be honest. the album is all over the place with no clear sound. in some places this is a good thing and in others bad. It's no aha shake.
even so, it isn't terrible by a long shot
I'd probably give it a 6/10

OK. I couldnt work out what the opening chordes from Arizona reminded me of and it was bugging me for ages. It came to me earlier:
Michel Jackson, Will You Be There?
No Jokes listen to it now!

this album just showed how better as musicians are KOL..its awesome to hear how they play now....HARPER? ALOT OF RIPPED OF RIFFS? you kidding me right? if you cant appreciate musicians then just call every band out there ripping each other off. They dont spend months creating an album to be called ripping of other riffs. its called in the SAME KEY

sounds familiar sounds better that RIPPING OFF..it just gets to me when people say that or when they start calling bands sell outs for trying to make it big.

It's seriously an amazing album by Kings of Leon, they did it again! Theres a much more grown up feel to it. Its definatly not as catchy as Aha Shake Heartbreak was, in the way where a song will get you the first time. Its one of those records that takes awhile to grow on people for them to enjoy. Give the album a try people, don't just listen to it once and give up on it. Its a tad bit shallow to give up on a CD just because it isn't "catchy" right off the bat. Either way, its grown on me now and I truly love it. Its a lot different from Youth and Young Manhood and ASH and at the same time you can still hear a bit of things from those two albums on the new one. They seem to have expirimented with a lot of new things like metal and stuff in the album which is pretty cool. Two thumbs up for the Kings!

the very very first bit of Charmer made me shout "oh hello!! its the Pixies!!" (debaser anyone?) Agreed. Although I've only had one listen through (so I'm not going to give any sort of opinion yet) I can see an obvious Pixies influence. Funny, becuase I'd never seen their influence relfected in KOL tunes (they are listed as an influence on the KOL myspace), but now I do...

Funny, becuase I'd never seen their influence relfected in KOL tunes (they are listed as an influence on the KOL myspace), but now I do... I think Jared in particular has a fondness for Kim Deal's style of bass in that it's always an integral part of the songs as opposed to just being in the background. I think they are inadvertantly influenced by The Pixies but not obviously so. There's a bit in Knocked Up that reminds me so much of something and I just can't put my finger on it, it's driving me nuts. It's like something Bowie did in the 80's or something. Just can't remember what it reminds me of.

True Love Way is a blatant rip-off of "Put me in coach, I'm ready to play today"
