ok...you may or may not have heard of th wonderful british quartet that is Razorlight, and this subject has no doubt been on here before, but i feel i must ask again. When the band do a cover of 'Milk' mixed with their own track 'Fall Fall Fall' I doubt very much they have asked the band if they can use it, so surley it is copyright or something?

I don't think that Razorlight should play it if the KOL is going to be at the same gig and is probably going to be playing the same song.
Plus, it is not as good as the Kings original song. If you are covering a song, reinterperate it, don't just sing it similar and hope to hell that it sounds just as good or better then the original.

It's one thing to do, for example, a beatles cover... because the beatles aren't around to play their music anymore. but kol is still considered an "up and coming" band in the US and I don't think anyone should be reselling their ideas so fast. plus it sucks, and milk is too good of a song to suck. leave it to the pros, that's what I say.

plus Johnny Borrell always comes across as someone who constantly has a hidden agenda to me, so i think is he singing a KOL song just because theyre so popular here and he wants to ingratiate himself? cause hes such a cock .

Oh, I would love to see that conversation between Johnny and Caleb... Hahaha...
Well I heard somewhere that Johnny said Calebs lyrics were ridiculous but that is why he loves it or something. Molly, the girl that I keep in contact with that has hung out with the band, said they came up and that Matt 9I think it was Matt) said that Johnny thinks he writes better lyrics than Bob Dylan. So, I think it is Johnnys arrogance that has gotten to the Kings.
As far as copywrite, someone can redo a song without permission from the original artist as long as they give the person credit and don't use any of the original... Like they have to remake the whole thing.
I know this because it happened between a great band (Greenwheel) and Melissa Etheridge. Don't know if you guys know the song "Breathe" but that isn't her song. The band shares a label (Island Records) with her and brought that song out in 2003 and she re-did it about a year later. It was a huge hit for her. The band didn't know she re-did it until they heard it on the radio. Also, they didn't receive any royalty and they later got dropped.

I have no idea who this Johnny Borrell is really. Is he as arrogant as a Gallager?
Do I need to revive the "Let's Kill celebrities" thread for some people?
